    Hello BHW,

This is my first post here but I have been a long time lurker.

Today I received a cease and desist email from "SuperCell" lawyers for having a website that has their game name in the domain.

How do I know if this is a legit email from the lawyers or is it just one of the competition trying to take me down ?

    The email is from domainsbyproxy

but in the subject it has the legit email of a lawyer

So if anyone would give me any tips or advice on this, I would really appreciate it !

Usually they would have the actual content in an attached PDF.

nothing was attached in the email, but in the end of the email it says for any questions email this guy and I checked it out, its a legit email from a lawfirm that has supercell as their client.

I just want to confirm if the email is really from this lawfirm. because in the from section it says its from domainsbyproxy.

domainsbyproxy is because your domain is private I believe.

It was forwarded by them to you.

Does the e-mail address match up with a verified law firm? Often, the email may look very authentic but the actual email address doesn't look as professional.

The ones I have received (dang, several!) were followed up with an overnight letter from the attorney.

hmmm, I recently moved so I doubt I would be receiving a letter even if it was sent. Is there a way to backtrack and find the original source of the email ? not domainsbyproxy

It's very likely legit - there are better ways to mess with you if it was the competition.

It was fwd'd because you have private whois set.

Did they leave any sort of contact information? If they did contact that lawyer, if there isn't contact info probably false

Best way to double check, go to lawyer's website and contact them directly
