So I just found a bunch of totally spammy backlinks pointing to my main site - which I never did or hired anyone to do...

Not sure what to do in this situation, they are like tier 10 total crap spam to pages and pages on my site. Anyone else ever have this happen? No idea who even pulled this bs either.

Otherwords use Google Disavow Tool. That's the only way.

Take down the florida mugshot locator or pissed consumer page that they point to and 301 the page. That will probably stop the attack.

...or spammer will change the domain. Disavow is better because nobody can see that some links are disavowed.

I don't suggest that you actually 'caught someone' doing NSEO, rather, you discovered that NSEO had been done.
Disavowing links might be a good plan, but depending on the strength of your site in its entirety, there may be a good chance that it can withstand a little abuse.

Doubt it. The site in question is one year old. It engages in negative online reputation (mugshots), and is in violation of Google's TOS. The disavow tool would most likely trigger a manual review. Then, we have the little matter that his friends in Asset begun a bogus debt collection lawsuit.

When you engage in negative conduct and negative reputation/exploitation, it comes back.

I have done penalty analyses and disavows for hundreds of penalized sites and can confirm it has no type of manual review involved. Don't think you're special, they would need thousands of new employees if they wanted to monitor every obscure site that submits a disavow. Use it.

But the issues with NSEO are first, Google has to REcrawl the link for it to be disavowed (which might not always happen again if it's a trash link). Second, you need to find enough of the domains to make a difference. If they're really obscure links no single index will find that many of them and this is the biggest problem. Third, you need a new analysis each time you get a new blast of links which means you're spending a lot more time/money than the spammer.

So yea, if they're really determined they'll eventually bomb your SERPs unless your link profile is almost bullet proof in terms of tons of relevant+powerful links. But then you might get a manual penalty...

Contact the site and request them to removed it, if does not work go to GWT and use disvow tools.

Methods that you do not know, but of which you assert expertise.

I wont bother telling you anything other than you should stop regurgitating what you have read, but not tested.

This guy is fully deserving, if for no other reason than having his acquaintances file a bogus debt collection lawsuit that has been previously determined to be the product of identity theft twice, this does not even begin to address the number of people his mugshot site is harming.

Not something I enjoy doing, but you do not tell people how to treat you, you teach them.

I have tested actually, and am genuinely interested if you have evidence against anything I stated. But anyway it seems you're admitting to doing negative SEO and your earlier post states why... I don't even know what his site is or if there is a good reason somewhere for it to be getting attacked. I guess there is but I wasn't taking a side, just answering his question.
