I have a website that was receiving 300+ visitors daily before
Google started rolling out their updates, now that traffic has
dropped to just over 30 visitors daily. I think the problem is,
I used my exact articles on the site and submitted them
to article directories for backlink building, so I guess it was
a duplicate content penalty I received.

This site is over 2 years old and when I made it, I never knew
as much about SEO then, as I know now, so I think I will be
able to bring this site back from the dead pretty quickly.

The site is an EMD with 6,600 exact match local searches.

I made a post a few days ago looking for information if someone
has ever did a total restructuring of their website before, did not
get to many replies. So what I have decided to do is make a case
study on this to see what the out come will be, and if I get any
    rankings back from it.

Here is what I plan on doing:

    1. Delete all the tags and categories
    2. Re-naming of all posts and pages on the site
    3. Add more relevant information to the existing posts and pages.
Bring them up to 500+ words.
    4. Re-build all tags and categories

I will be starting this today. Will keep you all updated.

This is my first case study, so if anyone has any suggestions, please
    post them.

It could work. The key will be adding to your existing content. Plus some new content to go with it.

    Good luck.

    Yes that's the plan.

Will post an update tomorrow on what I have done already.

Update on what I have done so far.

Deleted all tags and categories and re-named all my posts. I also installed
a redirect plugin to redirect these 404 pages to main site page.
