For some time, I've been thinking about documenting how to rank a parasite page, and my process incorporates a lot of techniques I have learned right here on BHW. I just built a 100 site private blog network via expired domain auctions on GoDaddy and I'm itching to test the network's power. My domains range from PR2 to PR4 and I built the network using Majestic Trust Flow and sites with authentic link profiles as our primary metric.

    Part 1: The Setup

First off, for the parasite page, I chose an article I wrote for Buzzfeed. The content was based around a keyword that I am targeting, written in the form of a top 10 list.

I ordered a 3 star, 1000 word article on Textbroker which cost me about $15.

I will attempt to monetize the parasite page via links to my affiliate site later on if the parasite page ranks. Initially, to get past censors and avoid being flagged, the article is link free. I included just a few links to authority sites that are related to my keyword's niche.

I created the parasite page at the end of of April, and as of May 5th, it is still not indexed in Google.

    Part 2: Link Building

Phase 1 (first week): I'm just finishing configuring a 100 blog PBN. I am going to use The Best Spinner and hand spin about 50 articles to drip out over 5 days.

Phase 2 (second week): Order Eating Memory's blog network links (this is not an endorsement or advertisement for this particular service, just trying to provide as much info as possible to be transparent) as 2nd tier links to 50 of my 50 blog posts. Additionally, I will drip out social signals to my blog network posts. I will probably not use 3rd tier links in this case study.

Phase 3 (third week): (TBD - may not use this if page is already ranking) order SAPE links pointed at parasite page via a 301 redirect. I will use a provider on BHW.

Phase 4 (fourth week if needed): Build 50 more links to parasite page from my PBN.

Part 3: Monetization if I hit page #1

    1. Go back and edit my Buzzfeed post and add links pointing to my affiliate site.

    2. My affiliate links will be Amazon.

    Quick Summary:

    Parasite page: Buzzfeed
    Keyword: Best ***** ******
Approx Monthly Searches for my keyword: 20k Monthly Searches
Rank Keyword in top 10 of Google
    Monetize with Amazon

Will keep this thread updated with rankings and hopefully earnings. I'm dripping out the blog posts to my PBN starting tomorrow.

Thanks for the question. I define a parasite page as something as a page that leaches it's authority off the parent domain. In this case I'm using Buzzfeed's existing domain authority to rank my article.

I hope this answers your question.

A lot of work but it will certainly pay off. The only problem is if your article is flagged when you start getting traffic... Anyway, very interesting case study and if it's work great you can duplicate and outsource most of the process. Keep us updated!

You might be right. I might wait a bit before monetizing it when it ranks. That being said, there are a ton of other parasites you could substitute for Buzzfeed. Another idea, would be to go after keywords with less volume to lower your chances of being flagged on Buzzfeed.

Yep, I've see Terry's case study, and it's awesome. I guess this is somewhat similar, but I'm hoping for more long term results because I'm using my own network as the primary link building source.

I guess it is somewhat similar, except I have my own PBN and using a lower quality PBN for tier 2 links.

This! I think it will be easy to rank because of the DA of the parasite + article may rank with less than 500 words, this way it's possible to make a bigger volume. I really think I will try this parasite traffic method.

Yep, you could easily scale this method with smaller posts and targeting low volume keywords.

100 PBN? Some one school me. That seems like a lot of investment to point at a parasite host that is not your own.

    1. Do you need a PBN that big for a parasite?
    2. Is your amazon commission going to cover the expense?
    3. Couldnt you rank your own site and enjoy better rankings and longer term commission with a PBN that size?

Thats like a $1,000+ investment in a PBN.

    Thanks for the good questions!

The 100 PBN was not built for this one case study. We plan on ranking a lot of different sites. This is just one use for it. I'm curious though if we will get more longevity out of it using our private network.

    1. Do you need a PBN that big for a parasite?
No you don't. You can use a smaller PBN.
    2. Is your amazon commission going to cover the expense?
No, this is just one parasite for the PBN. You can use your network to rank all types of sites.
    3. Couldnt you rank your own site and enjoy better rankings and longer term commission with a PBN that size?
Definitely could and we plan to do so!

Update: Finally got around to dripping 50 hand spun (sentence level) posts to my network. Going to wait a day or two and order some tier links from a BHW provider here.
