    I recently read over this thread: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/blackhat-lounge/427519-how-full-nights-sleep-2-hours-case-study.html

    To be honest, it sounds AWESOME and I think that a real BHW member's journal would help lots of people stay motivated should they try it, and maybe inspire some skeptics to give it a whirl. Also, I feel it will add a touch of legitimacy and relevance to the study.

    So, I'm going to get a solid night's sleep tonight (8-10 hours), and approximately 6 hours afterwards I will begin my journey.

    I'll be gauging my levels of "restedness" across 3 main criteria, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best:
    1. Physical Alertness (P)
    2. Mental Acuity (M)
    3. Motivation (V)

    Day 0:
    I'm fairly tired, and hope to get some good sleep tonight and establish a personal set of "control" PMV levels. I'm going to (hopefully) be asleep by 11pm CST. It is 10:20 right now, and I'm going to bed. I'll update in the morning!

    2 h of sleep ? You will just get yourself sick...

    No point in doing this dangerous task...I mean you don't get anything

    What proof do you have of that? There's no scientific evidence that actually proves we need all 6 or 8 hours of our sleep. There's only one important part I believe, which is REM. If you can program your body to get the important part of sleep required for rest, it saves you from wasting hours each night in a state where you're doing nothing but laying there.

    I plan on doing something similar when my schedule allows me to, but with 4 hours.

    this is stupid, just sleep 6 hours a day and don't torture yourself over it !
    this kina sleeps are for people who work really hard and they still need more time to work !
    and we all know all the people who hang out here don't work too much otherwise we would've all been rich !!

    "It is intuitively an evolutionary disadvantage" - How arrogant is that? Natural selection would never allow it, if you know anything about evolution you would know that is bullshit.

    My personal thoughts on the above discussion: I'm a little skeptical myself, but I'm giving it a shot to give myself a definitive answer one way or another.

    As for evolution, while it is correct to note that we sleep for 8 hours a day and natural selection hasn't bumped us off the map yet, I personally believe that it is equally arrogant to assume that we're "done evolving", even if just in the arena of achieving the perfect balance between sleep and wakefulness.

    If evolution is a process in which a species progresses in a linear fashion towards perfection in all facets of its being (which is what one must assume to posit that we've achieved perfection in one facet), then one can logically assume that if one is not God (a term here used to denote a "perfect" being, one that cannot be improved in any way) then one is not done evolving; and while I don't believe that sleeping 2 hours per day instead of 8 will make me God, it may in fact be an infinitesimal nudge in that direction by improving my daily efficiency.

    With that, here begins my journal:

    Day 1:

    P = 6
    M = 8
    V = 7

    I feel a little sleepy, I got to sleep at about 11 and woke up at 7:30, and I feel like going back to sleep haha. Chalk it up to morning groginess, if you like, but I definitely feel like I could be better rested. I should definitely be able to go to sleep for my 20 minute nap at 2:00pm.

    Oh god, I need at least 9 hours of sleep in order for my body to function properly.
    I wouldn't attempt such stunt!

    Maybe that's because it takes you 9 hours of inefficient sleep to get the 2 hours you really need ;) You're just wasting the time between 20-minute cycles of the the sleep you need by staying asleep.

    I want to try this myself as I hate going to sleep. Its a massive waste of time. But I confused about the Uberman method. How frecuently do I need to take the naps? Like how many minutes apart. Thanks.

    I take 4 hours of daily for god knows for what reason. I noticed following changes in myself.

    Social Anxiety
    Anger
    Insomnia

    I hope you will reconsider that experiment.

    Because of environmental reasons I was unable to continue the study. That is to say... the only time one can sleep in my house is at night when everyone else is asleep lol. Besides, I personally stay up ~18-20 hours per day anyways without issue, so I guess the sleep I do get between 2-4am and 8am is pretty deep and restful :)

    For anyone who needs closure: while I was unable to determine the legitimacy of the Uberman method, I did in fact establish the legitimacy of the Workaholic method: just cram all your Ubernaps into one super-deep sleep session in the wee hours of the morning, and you're good to go! Case study adjourned.
