    Hi BHW,

This is not a sales thread. In fact, it is just me giving back to the BHW. I got nothing to sell here so please don't attack me on something as silly as "twitter is no-follow - the links are worthless!"

    Alright?

Ok... it all started when I read an article on how Google engineers revealed in an interview that one of the major ranking factors for a site is going to be the "buzz" it is getting on social networks (specifically referring to twitter). Apparently even if the links to a site are redirects (for example: shortened bit.ly URLs) and tagged "no-follow" (which all outbound links on twitter are - automatically), Google will give your site "ranking credit" for that.

Apparently they have good "spam filters" in place as well to weed out credibility from twitter accounts that spam links etc. I am not the expert and frankly I don't care what Google is up to. All I know is... if you have quality content that people feel compelled to share with the world, you have a huge advantage in the SEO game.

I have always used social bookmarking in my SEO efforts but I never singled it out as being a major force that was getting my sites ranked. After reading that Google "expert" interview though, I did a little case study and here is a diagram of exactly what I did:

I first tested it on two of my sites (2 different blog posts) with 1 long-tail keyword each, and to my surprise, about 24 hours after I completed the package (illustrated in the image), I started coming up on page 1 and 2 of Google for the keyword I was aiming for as well as a handful of other awesome keywords.

Thinking "I got lucky", I tested the same process again for a couple other blog posts... this time focusing on more competitive keywords. Again the results were comparably similar.

I know this is NOT a new approach but I wanted to share it with you guys because it worked well for me and I am certain you too could achieve similar results (obviously depending on a lot of other things as well).

This will NOT rank a brand new site #1 on Google for "money" or other competitive keywords like that, but it certainly will give it a healthy boost that makes this a worthwhile approach to use alongside your other SEO endeavors!

This is by far not the only thing I do for SEO on my sites (just to throw that out there in case someone yells "BS"). I build quality backlinks where humanly possible and just for the record, I find that "in content" do-follow backlinks on healthy/established sites are by far the most powerful backlinks that one can easily get ones hands on.

Anyways... I am all over the page. Do let me know if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them.

    Konrad

PS: - If you find this thread useful, a thanks would be greatly appreciated ;)

Yes, the bit.ly link settings are do-follow (aka 301)... however any and all outbound links on twitter are no-follow. Does that make sense?

    Cheers

Did you outsource the blast for the forum links and bookmarking if so what service did you use?

I couldn't agree more with you. While I can't say for sure if my bookmarking strategy has helped push my sites, I do get a couple of instant sales straight away. I used socialoomph until now and recently switched to tweetattacks.

Based on the timezones I schedule my tweets, so for example visitors in australia get Aussie based offers during their day and so on.

Thanks for sharing the diagram. Will give it a spin.

I outsource the bookmarks and have them done manually. I have BMD but rarely use it... I prefer to get a quality direct link to my site which is why I have mainly manual links pointing directly at my money site.

I own xRumer and do all the profile blasts myself.

Do you have a ton of different twitter accounts that you do this through? I have some of my own custom made twitter tools that I use... thinking I could maybe integrate some direct marketing in to that tool somehow.

    Thanks all for the feedback!

Looks good but can you share that list of bookmarking sites, as I also don't have any bookmarking tool.
Also please let me clarify, 10000 profile links are shooting both your shortened url and bookmarking url right ?

Not quite.. infact after discovering this forum I noticed how ancient I was, lol!! The strategy I used is quite simple. I used socialoomph and scheduled my tweets. So on day 1, between local times (i am targeting) 9AM - 12PM and 5PM - 11PM, I pick out a region (say Australia) and make tweets with links to my reviews on the merchant or affiliate links bit.ly'd. Rest of the day I mostly tweet 'informative' tweets such as did you know..., what is...., .... explained

Likewise, I pick out the regions on a daily basis, Italian, Turkish, French, Spanish.. even though my sites aren't in those languages, twitter has helped me to close a few sales.

    Hope this helps.

I am a full time affiliate in the finance/investment niche.. not sure if the same strategy works for you but well worth a try. Forgot to answer the main question. I have only one twitter account.

You have to think the other way around. He shortened all the urls he got from the bookmarks and the feedburn and turned them into bit.ly links.

can you confirm i have this correct ...

    1) you create 100 BM's to your money site.
    2) you create 10k profile links to these BM's using a url shortner like bitly
    3) you ping everything BM's, and profiles
    4) you create various feeds that contain BM urls and profile urls and ping these

    Couple of questions for you.

    1) the bit.ly url ... does it last forever? or is there a timelimit on it?
    2) can you share the BM sites you use?
    3) can you PM me the BHW user that you use to submit your BM's?

    Good job

daisy447.. not quite.. to put it plainly, it's more of aiming at the tree and hoping for a few apples to fall. I might upgrade to TA pro if this lite version helps me improve my existing sales in order to use their module that searches in real time about questions/keywords and posts a reply..

Alright alright... lots of questions. Sorry, I did not realize I was so unclear and confusing about everything, lol!

I have my social bookmarking done manually by one of my guys... after that I do all the rest.

This is NOT a sales thread and I have no intentions of turning it in to one, but for those of you asking questions, please check out a screen capture video I made explaining each step of the way. See the video here!

I did offer this package as a service on my blog to my existing customers (after my case study) but because of the high demand (I've been getting a dozen orders a day) I will be closing down that post. I can't afford to wear my lists too thin.

Having said that, the BHW is full of service threads and you should very easily be able to duplicate the package for under $100 a piece. It's well worth the hassle for sure!

IMPORTANT: when you do get the bookmarking done, use more generic keywords as the keywords (they will be used as tags) and use your main keyword as the title (the title is generally the text that ends up linking back to your site).

I hope that makes sense... do let me know though if you need some more clarification!

I noticed today that 2 of my newer domains have a PR of 4 which is unusual as my domains rarely have much PR at all. I do know that I have started to tweet each post which is what I think is making the difference.
