Hy Buddy

I will keep it short and simple. I have an EMD and I am using @Rachmaninoff guides to create contextual links for it.
But I am confused as to what should be the anchor text?

Hi...Congratulations, how many articles posted?

also i'm interested, will new generation domain extension work (.shop, .dev etc) ? or still the big 3 (.com, .net, .org).

because finding EMD not easy

Anything should work honestly. :)

Anchor text can be your homepage, shouldn't be an issue but don't over do it. You can always create a mind map using some LSIs, partial match, Read more. Here etc

My partner found out the niche and it was not me. :)

You can call it lucky. Today, there are a ton of EMDs for that keyword due to one mistake of ours which was to reveal the URL when selling via Fb
Yes I can see that. There are so many copies of your website. Some have even outranked you.

For those who are trying something similar here's a tip. The search volume for your typo should be much greater than the actual keyword. Only then you'll be able to rank.

Keywords, on-page, links, anchor text
First of all, it's an EMD domain and a lot of traffic comes to the exact match keyword (see screenshot 1). The first 4 pages by traffic aren't products, they're "adsense-first" keywords.
As for link building, from what I see in Ahrefs, most of the links are tiered web2.0 blogs and forums. But the blogs are actually high quality, so the OP wasn't lying. I don't see any PBNs or something. Looks like the original post is legit (which is rare nowadays)

These are monetized via Adsense and have no products

Thanks OP for a great actionable case study! It's really motivating that one still can rank without spending anything but time.

Even though the site was hit with May 2020 update it is a great study case. I wonder if it was hit because of links/anchor text or on-page seo.

Where do you sell these sites once you create the traffic? I'm wondering where you find the buyer for this type of thing?

Hi bro
wow very good
1/ Is Ezoic better than Adsense ?
2/ Are you building backlinks for the home page or article?
3/ If the domain is new, how much time will it take for visitors to appear ?
thanks

Yes, Ezoic is better than Adsense
I use to build backlinks for the home page since it was an EMD and my focus was to rank for the main keywords that's already in the URL
If the domain is new, there are a ton of factors that decide when it will take visitors to appear. Most likely with good keyword research and constant content upload, You will be able to get visitors within 3 months

What was your anchor text strategy, did you build most of the links with the main keyword(s) or used a generic anchor text? I'm asking because this may shed some light on the recent Google update.

Great case study and your replies have been really helpful too. I've got two questions:

1. How often was your main keyword repeated in the URL?

Say you want to rank on the term Miami House Painters. Is it over optimizing to repeat "accountant" in the inner page url?

MiamiAccountant.com/tax-return-accountant/how-to-file-form-1040/

2. For siloing your clusters did you (a) use pages with sub-pages, or (b) did you use posts with the /category/ removed?

(a) Using my example from above, it's not that hard to make the how-to-file-form-1040 is the child page; tax-return-accountant is the parent page.

(b) Alternatively, it's possible to create a category /tax-return-accountant/ and change the URL permalink %category%%post%

This post has inspired me to do an experiment with an EMD. Just a quick question, say the target keyphrase is 'best coffee beans' and I purchase the domain bestcoffebeans.com

And the main article I wanted to rank was titled something '10 Best Coffee Beans For The Perfect Brew," - Would you have this on the homepage and the URL just bestcoffeebeans.com? Or would post the article on a separate page and the URL something like bestcoffebeans.com/10-best-coffee-beans/

I'm assuming for the full effect of an EMD you want the content on the homepage but just checking!

Thanks!
