Why get someone to talk you out of what you want? You seem to have your heart set on this car so why not get it and make it a work in progress?
idk man maybe consider not buying a car unless you actually need it. Ive blown $xx,xxx total on bullshit in the past couple years that i didnt need. I wish SOOOOO much that I hadnt. In fact a large amount of the money went to things that ruined my life for a while. Now I am at the point where IM and my clothing company are doing well enough that things are good again financially. But If I could take it back...
Yeah i know but someone just showed me a VW Corrado i think it was called and it was perfect apart from it only had 3 doors... i refuse to have my friends or anyone else look stupid and get wet while they try and force the seat forward to clamber across to the other side and show alot of ass crack in the process.
Yep i do need it... living in the middle of bum fuck no where gets very boring without a car... plus im going to the UK in a few months after ive passed my test. (*im actually going to england for a month or 2 and doing my test then coming back to france to get in my car to go back to england with my car to then come back a month or so later LOL... makes no sense i know but still).
well then grab that vw if you love it. I used to have a 3 series . I miss her.
Okay yeah i probably will.... just gotta transfer over some more cash then im ready to buy... if not that exact one then another similar.
Will keep you all posted lol (bit of a useless thread but still helped)
I would avoid that VW Corrado , It does look good for a car of it's age but consider VW has stoped selling theirs Corrados as a result of being the car with most ifamous number of car accidents at those times. Not cool.
I am an audi fan, can't recommend you a proper model because I don't know your budget but I think you should look around for audi instead of VW.
Also if you're going to buy an older car, I'd suggest you getting it from Germany, looks like germans are more careful with their cars, change oils when needed, distribution etc, and keep them in better state than any other citizens in EU, plus, their roads are actually rocks and that is definatelly a + for the car's life in good state.
As for you being only 17 , it makes sense now
PS: That golf 2 looks nice anyways
Ah sorry, just saw that u actually said your budget is 2000 EUR, well, for that price most likely you can find a Audi 80 from the same years as the golf and that actually looks great once tuned. Go do a search on mobile*de , I think it's biggest internet car marketplace in EU
Thanks for that but im only looking for a car to crash... i.e. a way to throw away 2k euros over the next few months... (hopefully it will last at least 6).
Then im going to germany to buy a BMW or something nice and keep it for 6 to 8 months then sell it in france and go back to germany and get a newer one. Sounds like alot of work but the money i will save in the long run and having a new shiny car every 6 to 8 months will be hot.
Just a sisterly advice my little brother. I know how it feels being young and being able to afford a car - it feels refreshing, very empowering and very validating, especially if the car was bought out of your hard work - that is just ecstasy. Believe me, I have been there and im sure a lot of guys here felt the same. Its like saying to the world, hey look at me now, im an achiever, I have already proved something!
Come to look at it, do you really really need it? Or you just WANT it?
One thing I learned in life to be really financially free is to: collect ASSETS and minimize LIABILITIES.
Is the money for your car the only savings you have at the moment?
What if something happens (the force forbids)? What if for some weird twist of fate you suddenly needed money for something MORE important in your life, an emergency? And you need to provide an amount to resolve it, how can you afford it?
A car is a LIABILITY! Why? Because it doesn't generate income. You pay for tax, you pay for maintenance, you pay for repair, you pay for gasoline, and you pay for a lot of things!
Now, when does having a LIABILITY acceptable?
When you have already collected enough ASSETS or income generating business/investment that can SUPPORT your car maintenance and other EMERGENCY funding in life.
If you have already saved at LEAST 3 times the value of the car you are buying plus 1 income generating business/investment
Enough savings plus 2-3 ASSETS or income generating business/investment
But if you are only depending on your whole internet marketing as your ONLY ASSET, then it's a bad move.
Better save the money, use it to acquire an ASSET, wait a little while, grow it and then BUY it when the time comes.
As for your UK trip, im pretty there are tons of alternatives
Hey, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, im very sincere and giving you this advice based on my lessons in life.
I have seen people fell apart and lost their financial stability just by a simple mistake and wrong decision.
Change your perspective, change your life
well snowwhite said it better than me ha
well i dont now alot but i think the future or petrol cars will soon die as petrol is running out.... the other alternative is hygiene cars as they only produce co2 environment friendly
Cheers snow but i actually do need a car whatever the cost.... ive put of getting one for over a year now because of it being a liability and also all my incomes being a liability.
Im waiting just a little bit long untill i have enough to replace the car if it breaks and will keep that money aside.
The reason i need a car is my mum actually suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and is getting worse and worse at driving. Shes a single parent and really made me 'drive' myself to earn some money online to help pay for things and also so i can look after my other two brothers while shes at work (yes she even has to work to keep the house etc). Im not looking for sympathy and would never ask for it but just thought i would explain.
Thats actually probably one of my worst characteristics that some people take advantage of me for and thats being 'over kind and wanting to help everyone'. Money and kindness sometimes get in the way of each other especially with online work. However keeping them seperate is almost impossible.
Hopefully i can get some more 'security funding' if you like by the end of the week so that i can get this and also look at then earning enough to do my test (yes ive still got that to pay for and a few months of living in england too).
Hopefully everything will go to plan as i hope.
Thanks again snow
oh and syfer tell me when these 'HYGIENE' cars come out.... would be cool to take a shower and drive at the same time LOL
Oh god, im so sorry to hear that. The thought of a mother having MS breaks my heart. I have a friend of a friend who also has MS and it is costing them $1500 for a single shot of that MS medication(to minimize relapses) not to mention the daily shot of Nicotinamide.
Why not use your mom's car to drive yourself and her?
Save the money for future medication
try this one, its very good:
or a mitsubishi EVO!
You sure you need a security system for a brown 1985 vw golf?
snow - in france all the medication and everything is provided by the government so that part is good and without it she would be alot worse.
Her car is really really bad and un-reliable and plus at this rate shes one day soon going to be stuck somewere and need me to come and pick her up (and she will have her car). As sometimes she just randomly can't move her leg or whatever.
Anyway that cars car i don't think is in production at the moment or definatly not available in france LOL but if you ever see it for sale let me know i will be first on the order list ha ha.
bananahands - a CAT security system will reduce my insurance a whole lot and will mean also that i am able to put a nice radio system among other things inside safely. You sorta contradicted yourself as with a door wedge and a coat hanger on an older car you can get into it in less than 2 minutes.... but with the new cars its a bit more of a struggle. So all the more reason to have a better alarm system in place.
Sounds very Robert Kiyosaki!
