Anyone work for a car dealer ship, either seo or a car salesman. Any advice? This is a New Car dealership that does not have much off page SEO done. I'm going to build some backlinks for this business so that it gets more business. I obviously should be working the local angle but feel for LT keywords I could rank for easily over time. I am also thinking of not even telling this dealership. My reasoning is more people that come through the more commission I would make per sale.
    Any feedback.. Stupid? Smart?

I could prob use some G+ reviews and Yelp Reviews also if anyone has a service where the reviews look good and real.

Waste of time. Your much better off learning the art of sales, and maximizing your portion of the pie at the dealership.

I run a car dealership... Besides local rankings there are no other SEO benefits. But if you want to earn car sale commissions the best way is to network with a lot of people. My top salesman is 50 year old, Spanish and Bilingual. He has no idea about any kind of advertising. He doesn't even know how to operate his new smartphone. But he is killing it and makes more than $5000-6000 a month in commissions. He just goes in crowded places, events happening in near cities, markets and he will chat and make friends with a lot of people. He has the most genuine smile and always shares compliments. He will give them a bunch of business cards and kindly ask them to share with anyone that wants to buy a car. I guess people like him so much they actually remember to do that. His phone is going crazy all day, people come in and ask for him all the time. I have to stay after hours to manage all his customers haha.

I think age is in his favor here :p As where a younger person, some people may not be as urged to take action on something.

Based on my experience, car dealerships try to go this path and often burn their fingers. SEO and car sales are far away and not cost effective.

There are 1000s of ways to get good leads in a cost efficient way. Try to buy some leads from providers and check the conversion and rinse and repeat. I can say your dealer will be more than happy to pay more than your expectations.

Those slick Spaniards! But what Spasovski said is true, you won't sell more cars if you rank your local car dealership on the 15th spot for 'new york car dealership', and your business is in California. Focus on the local SEO, Yelp and reviews. There are loads of discussions here about local SEO so put the search function to good use.

The goal is to get leads from the website... not sales directly... as that is almost impossible. Get some traffic, put some forms to leave their details or set up an apointment... and track them somehow.

Why are you people telling him local SEO is impossible for a car dealer? I've seen it done. Just because a niche is competitive does not mean it's impossible. And IMHO if op wanted to learn traditional sales leads info he wouldn't be on black hat lol... may as well give him advice on how to dress as well. My opinion is that over time and with enough money and effort it would be possible to bring in more leads, he just needs to do the local SEO right. And if the website isn't total crap it should be collecting emails, which can then be used as leads.

100% spot on as to SEO not being impossible... I've done it several times for dealers and have an active client right now that I serve. Car dealers can do very well with a decent SEO campaign and most do not mind spending as part of their advertising budget.

It is a little work, and it is not cheap, but the return on investment for the dealer is well worth it... WELL worth it.
