I know a lot of people here used captchaocr during their free beta testing period. I was looking forward to getting it, but was REALLY disappointed by their greed and ignorance. Why?

    Screen shot 2011-06-28 at 3.52.41 PM.png

These are the prices offered by captchaocr. As you can see, the DISCOUNTED price is $23/month for 20 images/min. 20 images/min!!! LOL!!

So you are running it on your own hardware, and is still limited by their GREED. Yes it's their greed. The only reason they are limiting it is to they can offer more images/min for a more expensive price.

With 20 images/min, you can't even run a profile creator such as xrumer, scrapeboard or vseo at more than 20 threads. What a JOKE. And get this, after the discount ends (24 hours) the price will be $70/month for 20 images/min!! (hahah) (INITAL FEE WILL BE: $1060)

And do you know what their explanation is for this ridiculous high price for a ridiculous low amount of images/min? This is their explanation on their forum:

hahahaha. Talk about totally NOT understanding the market. Who here is spending "thousands of bucks"/month which I'm allegedly going to save?

I'm spending MAXIMUM of $20/month on captcha(DBC), and I'm making thousands of dollars. Why would I pay these greedy people $70/month and limit myself to 20 images/min, when I can run XRUmer at 300 threads/min?

It's correct, XRumer doesn't have 95% accuracy on the captcha solving, but with 300 threads, it would give me more profiles created than running it at 30 threads with captchaocr.

So, my point is: After allegedly spending $800.000 on developing this, and after 5 years of development, they are completely ruining their chance of taking over the captcha market. Because nobody sane would pay $70/month and $1060 initial fee for 20 captchas/minute.

Also as soon as Google finds out that a automatic captcha solver exists for reCaptcha, they will upgrade reCaptcha to make captchaocr.com useless. Then congratulations, you've just lost all money you've paid to captchaocr.

I will agree the numbers here don't really make any sense but I would like to see the logic behind the numbers.

So they sent out this e-mail:

So let's see if they come to their senses and propose a reasonable price for what they offer...

The reason they're attaching such a high price to it is because it takes a long time and a lot of expertise to make an OCR. I can understand where they are coming from on this issue, but there are just too many competitive alternatives out there. Solving 60 captchas per minute sure takes a lot of resources, I'm not sure xrumer uses that much except for recaptcha.

You would run it on YOUR OWN server. WHY would they limit it when you host it yourself on your own server?

Because it's extremely costly to make a CAPTCHA OCR. If they gave you unlimited, in theory, you could charge other people to do blasts for them or (perhaps) even solve their CAPTCHAs remotely. It is lame though I agree. I don't think it's worth it for now, DBC does just fine.

There will always be dumb people that still pay for the service in the end.

Don't understand why you guys are complaining... Haven't you ever heard of slow and steady wins the race.
Instead of running at 300 threads, run at 100 threads and run it 24/7.

With that 20/min plan, that is still 1,200 per hour, 28880 per day, and 864,000 per month...
I think you are the one being greedy... (That is a lot cheaper than paying $1-$2 per 1K captcha's).

Like everything there will be the people who appreciate this, and those who will complain.
In saying that, you are not their target market! Their target market is for those needing thousands upon thousands solved per day. Not 20K per month.

I can't stop laughing at this stupid comment. The guy pointed out a legit reason as to why it can be valuable. People running 24/7 are the people they are marketing to, hence why you run it on your own hardware. Personally, I would rather be the guy doing almost 1 million CAPTCHAS per month making long-term, steady income instead of someone doing a short, fast burst of CAPTCHAS.

One day you'll realize what a retarded, close-minded comment that was. Maybe when you're 16 or 17.

    I have ordered COCR-50-WithVPS on 1st July(FRIDAY) and I was offered 50% discount.
so I paid $1146 in all for 50 per min.
I was asked to pay through western union but i insisted for an alternate and finally a bank wire option was provided to me and I thought it better since I will be able to track down the payment receiver with my bank's help (IF REQUIRED)
I sent wire to Pakistan but yet on 7th July there is no delivery. Can someone confirm if they have got for what you paid. Am I scammed?
Last email from their support says there is a huge load of installations due to 50% promo offer and hence it can take some more time, I also noticed that sales are now closed.
