I have a headache due to the pressure system that has been moving through the area. I'd like to be working right now but it's difficult to concentrate. The rank bots are in a decent state but still need some minor adjustments, especially to the AJAX GUI. My wife has her heart set on me returning to her tomorrow but as much as I'd love to, the departure of my friend Mike to visit his hometown and the state of my work affairs make that unlikely. Still, I've always found that expecting a favorable outcome is more likely to produce one. To that end I'm searching for plane tickets.

This log will mostly contain work related entries and some amount of personal records. The goal is to share with others, as many others have done, my journey of successes (And failures where applicable). I'll return to work as soon as this headache and subsequent nausea have subsided. Until then, I'll continue watching Netflix.

After some medication, my headache and nausea have for the most part subsided. As usual, I'll be watching TV in the corner of my screen while I work. It's nice to have the window control of Linux. There is no better environment for development. I just talked to my wife and she's of course disappointed but understands. If only she understood my work. Its complexities, the discipline it takes, the long hours. She claims to very much want to learn to code as I do. Perhaps someday she'll truly understand.

As usual, I'll be working through the night and far into morning. Perhaps even afternoon. I enjoy the solitude but it's often a lonely profession, especially for a newlywed. Tonight I must at least complete the following tasks...

    • Get my rank bots in a state where beta testing is a more streamlined experience.
    • Import the rest of the MySQL databases and users from my old WHM/cPanel server to my new Interworx dedi.
    • Install Litespeed Web Server as a drop in replacement for Apache on my new server.
    • Deactivate my old web server and its DNS cluster then ask to be prorated for them and their software licenses.
    • Choose and install a sufficient theme and plugins for my two new dropshipping sites.
If there's time I'd also like to optimize the MySQL indexes for some a few of my older sites that in my haste I hadn't configured properly the first time. They're causing unnecessary CPU load on my new server. We'll see. Though the previous bullet list could have contained a lot more entries I need to start being more realistic regarding my task completion times. I often underestimate them to my detriment. I'm tired of perpetuating the old adages of inaccurately assuming "That's easy. It's a quick task" and "It's almost done" of which I know many people who work in my profession and others suffer by.

    Back to work.

Today has been slow. Bad weather keeps moving through and I'm very sensitive to pressure systems. I just realized that the date I put on my first entry here has a typo (23 rather than 3), whatever. I've installed Litespeed Web Server on my dedi but not without incident. I had to recompile PHP a few times to get all my extensions working but it wasn't that much of a problem. My web traffic is now very efficiently served. Interworx is still proving to be a good choice in contrast to my years of experience with cPanel. I still have some databases to import from my old server so I'm going to go ahead and do that now.

I haven't had a chance to cross much off of yesterday's list yet but it should all be done before tomorrow. I'm very much looking forward to getting my dropshipping sites up and running. One site will be a storefront spanning all consumer product niches and the other will be something I'll keep to myself until I've got it up and running. I've compiled an exhaustive list of themes and plugins to accommodate these sites. I've also arranged to employ two people to help maintain and promote them and I've begun preparing a backlinking strategy. By this time time tomorrow we should be importing products. I've turned my sleep schedule around to be up in the day. We'll see how long that lasts.

As for my rank bots, they're not really taking a back seat but they will have to wait till tomorrow. The arrangements I've made for the dropshipping sites need to be seen through immediately as I have people depending on me to get them running. I also still need to optimize my MySQL tables since they're giving my server quite a beating but luckily, since my server has monstrous power, it isn't an emergency.

I've also noticed that one of my sites is doing pretty good for traffic, over 20,000 unique visits per-day. I need to get a new Adsense account up and running. I can't regain access to the Gmail account associated with mine so Adsense won't allow me to create a new one, stating that "You can't have more than one." Google doesn't provide any support so I don't see any solution to getting into my old Gmail. The ads currently being served are from my ex girlfriend's account. No doubt she's happy to accumulate ad money and neglect to mention it to me, especially considering how disgruntled she is regarding the manner in which I left her for someone else who I married four months later.

The most tedious part of getting these dropshipping sites up is deciding which themes to use. Always the perfectionist, the list of I've compiled spans every imaginable WooCommerce theme viable for my needs that exists on the Envato marketplace. I hate to be so indecisive to the point of inefficiency but I can't stand any flaws. Considering that apart from these dropshipping sites, I intend to bring a site online for all 150+ domains I own, I'm going to be spending a lot of time previewing and testing themes once my current tasks are complete. Of course some sites will have to be manually coded but a good portion of them can be handled by Wordpress.

As a side note, I've decided to learn Scala and Golang. I already know a fair amount of programming languages but I'd like to get into functional programming (Scala), I've always wanted to code for the JVM (Scala again), and I'd like to experiment with more rapid development (Scala and Golang). Who knows when I'll have time for that.

Hopefully I'll have far more progress to report in my next entry.

I woke up a bit later than I'd hoped to, a result of being up late talking to my wife. In my need to be thorough, I still haven't chosen the themes I need for my dropshipping sites. I have a few strong candidates. Hopefully I can settle on them today and get on with the rest of my work.

Regarding my desire to learn Scala and Golang, I've enrolled in a Scala certification course. Normally I wouldn't allow a distraction into my schedule but since I already know several programming languages, I should be able to complete the course without disrupting my work. As for Golang, no course is required to learn that. Scala is a far different and more difficult beast to tame.

I hope to make good progress with my sites today as well as find a good solution to getting a new Adsense account. Then I'll be able to continue with my rank bot modifications. To finish that is paramount. Nobody else on the Internet has the SEO tools I've created, at least not publicly. They should prove quite valuable once I have a marketplace thread up.
