When I first started making Micro Niche Sites, and did keyword research I was completely overwelmed on what sort of keywords I should use and what kinda of competition I could compete against easily.

Lets say you come up with a Niche like umbrellas, try and break that down into something more specific. (sometimes doing a google search on umbrellas and looking at what it shows can give you ideas, e.g. lots of pink womens umbrellas for sale)

You then break this category down into a micro niche just like

    Pink women's Umbrellas

That's the basics of coming up with a niche from your head.

    HOWEVER.

Sometimes you may be like me and get niche-block and can't think of anything, to deal with this I usually go in two very good routes.

    • go to http://www.mysimon.com/compare-top-searches this shows a load of popular searches but also a huge amount of these have such little competition, you can tell what's popular and what's not by looking at it. for example "Orthopedic Shoes" I then go to "Ultimate Niche Finder" and find out how many searches the term has, similar keywords and find the competition. I personally go for SEO competition under 15 (30 or under is considered easy)

    • If you buy Ultimate Niche Finder from BHW you get a free PRO membership to uniches.com what I love about uniches.com is it has so many micro niches and it's all just listed, no need to think of anything, great for severe niche-block only problem is sometimes the keywords are just mis-spelt popular keywords that google automatically corrects, but none the less it can give you ideas on niches with a very low level of competition.
If your having trouble finding keywords have a look at these I've found, I'm sure someone will use them so personally I would just use it as a bit of inspiration or somewhere to go from.

    Code:
    metatarsal boots = global = 6,600 us = 390 Serps = 153,000
    avenged sevenfold wallpaper = 1,300 searches revenue = $405
    Havana Joe Shoes = 1,000 searches revenue = $432
    Seatbelt Extender = 1,600 revenue = $518.40
    tufted headboard
I seriously recommend you buy Ultimate Niche Finder as it is a great product, with great support and can save you a lot of time with finding keywords (UNiches.com is great too, and new keywords added daily)

You can find the thread here:

p.s. It may look like it but im not affiliated to UNF in any way, just a very satisfied customer, I hope this thread can help some people out.

This can also be done for free with Traffic Travis if you cannot afford £40 / $60

Basically yes, or you could use any other similar software or even a cracked traffic travis.

UNF is much faster than Traffic Travis and has the ability to continuously dig down by expanding more and more keywords. It's domain checker is also lightning fast. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't do everything, but what it does do, it does best IMHO.

Yeah, pretty much everything you can do with UNF you can do with Traffic Travis, however, you pay for the time you save from doing it.

And your right, the domain checker is insanely fast. I totally agree with you.

    It's alright Clyde!
