    I've done everything imaginable.
I've submitted my articles to every bookmarking site existing (Digg, Reddit, Blogsmark, etc..) ALL OF THEM.
I've made videos and using tubmogual submitted them to lots of sites.
I've used PR Storm, Senuke, Comment Kahuna, Comment Sniper, Alexa Rank Enhancer, Tube Hitter, etc. (I've downloaded and tried about 200 hundred programs featured on this site)
I've made a twitter and have thousands of follwers and followings (I've got about 20 hits from it)
I've posted my site on forums and related site comments.
    I've joined link exchanges.
I've posted thousands of unique articles on my site.
I've made user accounts with backlinks at high page rank sites YouTube, Digg, Facebook.

The only real thing I haven't done is used Adwords. (I don't have $10,000 to spend on advertising) and my goal is to be using adsense so it would be wierd to have to pay to make money.

I don't know what to do.

I've read numerous eBooks and tutorials on this site.

My favorite is on AutoBlogs (What a joke lol)
    Set it and forget it.
I set it and forgot it for a week and everday since then my site's traffic has decreased and yes content is still being created and posted and submitted.

If anyone has any secrets to get REAL traffic that will be loyal to my site that doesn't cost an arm, leg, or 10,000 then hit me up.

    THANKS!!!:D

I do have google webmaster I submitted my sitemap and site.
I also used yahoo site explorer and msn site tools.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it

But in the last 6 days here are my crawler stats

    GOOGLE: 3295 Hits
    MSN: 5 Hits
    YAHOO: 4 Hits

Within those 6 days I've posted 789 posts with 2,000 tags in 16 categories with 6 pages.

And in those 6 days I've gotten 244 unique visits.

    Thoughts?

I'm getting keyword phrase traffic from google.
But only like 2 or 3 hits from each phrase.
Because I'm the first to post it.
I get 1st result on google for about 2 hours.
Then once all the larger sites with higher pagerank posts the same stuff.
    I drop to 2nd or 3rd page.

BTW I have PageRank of 0.
    Comptetors have PR of 4,5,6,7,8

I'm not looking to get 100,000 uniques a day.

I just want to make 300.00 bucks a month.
How many uv's a month will that take?

I've had the same kinda thing happen to me as well. In the end out of everything i've read. on here and other forums was plain and simple the keywords that I thought were good actually were just terrible. This has actually happend to me on about 4-5 sites. Yes i'm new and yes I've learned my lesson lol. Maybe the same thing could be happening to you?

    It's wierd.
I'm getting high on google for some pretty popular searches.
But only for a few hours resulting in only 4 hits.
If I could stay on that 1st google results for a day I could be getting at least 2,000 hits.
But these huge ass high pr sites are just killing me.

I also noticed that many of my lesser pr competitors.
All use the same exact site layout and all do link exchange with each other.
They are quite open about it also.

    Should I take part?
I thought google was against link exchange.
But they have adsense are high on google and all use link exchanges.

I'm already linking to their sites.
Lots of outbound links to them.

So I would get high on their referral list.

I'm thinking I might as well since I'm already referring to their sites.

Nobody can possibly know that except you. If you don't know this information inside out, you're not running a business, you're running a "get rich quick" pipedream. Which, despite what someone with an ebook to sell might try to make you believe, this is not what internet marking is like.

You must know what percentage of people who click your link results in an "action" (sale, install, opt in, whatever).

You must know how much money you make per action.

Working out how much traffic you therefore need to make $x is simple maths.

You pretty much answered your own question in this bit:

The keywords are targeting are too competitive and the authority sites are also hitting them and just blowing you out of the water. If you want to compete you have 2 options:
    1. Spend 6-12 months trying to become an authority site yourself so you are competitive

    2. Target some less competitive keywords or niches for now

Your going wrong somewhere, that's blatantly obvious. I built a movie site nearly 3 weeks ago and within 2 days I was getting about 1,200 u/v a day from Google. It was down for a week and I lost my positions but I put it back online yesterday and I'm on about 160 u/v a day now. My method is simple. I store whatever a user searches for and give it a page. It works excellent for me because mine is a movie streaming site so when a user searches a movie, whether I have it or not, I store it in a database, and pull the information out onto a new page e.g.

    User searches: terminator salvation
    Database stores: terminator salvation
On smovie.php it puts "terminator salvation" as the title and meta tags, then puts "terminator salvation" in <h1> tags and shows a default movie.

Somewhere along the line, your users will type a s**t hot keyword that search engines will love and adore you for.

    Any way, good luck!

Think Polymorph has hit the nail right on the head mate..

Its tough trying to compete with the big authority sites..

I always look to see just who is ranking on Google for my keywords before I set up a niche site.

If the ranking sites are all authority sites..then i find a better long tail keyword and try and by-pass them.

You will always rank better for the smaller long tail words and at the end of the day.. if you target enough long tail keywords.. you can get a boat load of traffic to your site without having to compete with the large authority sites..

What niche are you targeting? It could be that you are in a very competitive niche that will take months to start generating traffic. Target the longtail!! Longtail keywords are easier to rank, bring traffic quicker and convert better because the visitors know what they want.
