    Hi everyone,

Long time lurker here but I need your help.

I have been trying to break the top 5 for the term "free websites" for over a year. I have short little blips when it jumps to #5 but then a few hours later it's back down to #9 again.

I understand I am going up against some big time websites like Weebly, Google Sites, etc. But does anyone know what else I can be doing to try and get into the top 5?

    The website is http://www.tiptopwebsite.com

You could try tweaking your on page seo some. I don't believe I saw the keyword "free websites" in any of the text on your main page.

Yeah I put it in the title tag thinking that would help, but apparently it's not. I am trying to be aggressive with my link building but the sites ahead of me are killing me in link count.

I did not see any H tags in your code. Plus you need to add more content with your keywords. Also add your keywords to the footer of the site. This does help.

Then after you do that do up a link wheel. If you are not sure there is some good providers here on BHW.

Doing this you will see your site move up with in 2 months.

When I looked your site was in spot 11.

    1) Content - More high quality content.
    2) <h1> <h2> <h3> tags with keywords in them.
    3) Optimize site title tags.
34 Give your images a title tag.

For content have you considered starting a blog? Talk about the latest news on your site and latest technology in your field. I am sure there is something you can do a post or two a week about.

Your title tag for your home page is a little long.

You need some more text on your homepage if you can fit some in. Throw in the keywords in the text.

You need some H1 tags badly.

Giving your images title tags is not a huge deal but I like to think every little bit helps.

On the side, you may try a 3 way linking as well...

    slightly off topic:

but is the keyword/ ranking really profitable?

I mean the competition is fierce, and I am sure you have spent lots of time/energy/money to achieve the ranking you have now....so has all this worked out to be profitable?

you pretty much are doing all the right off-site SEO. My recomendation is this rinse and repeat the steps you have already done. Also look into your onsite SEO add some quality content.

Agreed. That keyword looks like a total waste of time and effort

I've not looked up the stats for this but I always avoid vanity keywords/phrases. If you do your research you can often find some little gems with high volume searches and low competition.

The general premise is to rank well with minimal effort as Nufaman and Krocks say.

I can understand your thinking but I can tell you that the days I do get up to #5 my sign ups almost triple so yeah it's a profitable keyword for me but I am just trying to get it to stick at least at #5.

I just bought ScrapeBox in hopes of that helping me get some good links.

Thanks for all the feedback so far guys - this was a good thread for me to jump into the forum :)
