Neither will even begin to load. Does this mean hosting is down?
Loading fine for me.
Ok hostgator is loading fine now but I still can't access my domain.
Had the same problem a few minutes ago. Everything is working okay for me now.
Well I can access my domain too.
Ok everything is back up. Does this happen often?
Probably just a temporary routing issue.
A server somewhere between you and their server
( you hope through probably 10+ networks to access them,
so when one of them has an issue, until it is either resolved
or the trafic re-routes for the path of least resistance,
(another path to the server is created in a few hours, usually,
if one server goes offline ... if there is a JAM-UP/overload
on the traffic for whatever reason, that usually self-resolves)
HIT: Enter key
TYPE: tracert www.hostgator.com ( note the space between tracert and the address )
HIT: Enter Key
This is a Trace Route command & action and will show you the servers through which you HOP top see you page & hostgator
When you have an issue and you see REQUEST TIMED OUT you know where the problem LIKELY is
EXAMPLE ( first steps are EDITED to prevent my location from being revealed )
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>tracert www.hostgator.com
Tracing route to hostgator.com [18.104.22.168]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
9 96 ms 80 ms 79 ms te3-5.dsr01.dllstx3.theplanet.com [22.214.171.124]
10 * * * Request timed out.
11 84 ms 82 ms 113 ms te1-1.car05.dllstx6.theplanet.com [126.96.36.199
12 72 ms 109 ms 83 ms d00t.hostgator.com [188.8.131.52]
Oh so one of the servers in the cluster had a problem and all the data in the server moved to another one?
Well take the "Oh" and "?" off my question and you have a reason for the problem
had trouble earlier, called and was in 55th place!
yea 75% of the servers backends are down at the planet, its a pretty big problem. From what I know they are scrambling to try and fix it ASAP. I actually lost several hundred dollars today due to not being able to access cpanel, and do something i needed to.
(Hostgator's data center is at the planet by the way) All you guys with HG are lucky, they just switch u to a diff shared server. My dedi is not through something like that, and I dont have the option of just be transfered over and everything fixed.
Ha and this happens like 2 days after I switch all my stuff off of hostgator.
my sites still down
I have been up and running since about 5 minutes after I created this thread around 4 hours ago.
Check their Twitter page when their servers are down, it's the first place they seem to update:
mysite still online
No problem for me
