Hi, I sold something over £1000 on eBay. I thought that the maximum fees would be £75 for anything but eBay changed their policies and the final value fee was now £125. So I asked the buyer to cancel the transaction and offered him a PS+ membership or £40 but he said "Nah thanks. Cheers. Happy holidays". These messages were sent via eBay message. If eBay find out what will they do? Should I delete my eBay messages? Thanks

Just ship. If you can't do a transaction over 5%, you probably aen't charging enough in the first place. If I was the buyer, I would definitely report you to eBay, it's up to YOU to keep up with eBay policies. Not the buyer's problem.

Then let it go. If you do something that goes against eBay policy, you run the risk of having to refund the buyer and him keeping the item.

Let it go. Do not go against eBay's policies. They'll ban you immediately since they have millions of sellers.

I have received the payment and shipped the item etc. I asked him to cancel the transaction after he received the item. He agreed. But after looking online I am a bit worried that eBay might find out.

Btw what do you mean when you say "Let it go"?

If you already shipped, then no worries. There is no reason that this will come back to haunt you.

Deleting your messages does not delete them from the data base... So that would not do any good.

Until you reach top rated seller status... your fees will be around 13% of your selling price (Ebay and paypal combined) and that includes shipping costs as well. Thats what I get charged anyways.

At top rated you get a 20% discount on ebay fees but it does not show up until you get your invoice for the previous month... this also does not apply to paypal fees. Your transaction must also meet the requirements.... Ship within one business day and 14 day return policy.

Ok, thanks. From the attitude of his messages it doesn't sound like he will report me.

Btw for anyone confused this is what i did
    1.) Buyer paid for item
    2.) I shipped item
    3.) Buyer received item
4.) Buyer and I left feedback
5.) Buyer accepted to cancel the transaction.

I misunderstood you... Thought you wanted to cancel the transaction before you shipped and was worried about that.

Did not realize the buyer was keeping the item, you are keeping the money, and the cancellation was just to get out of paying fees. If ebay finds out.... your account is fucked.

Did the cancellation go through and you get credit for the fees?

Yes I got the credit. Will eBay find out? Should I contact them and ask to pay fees?

Should I contact eBay and explain to them that I want to put it right or should I make a one-off payment to my account of £125 and then explain to them or should I leave it?

NO, just let it go, and hope that nothing bad happens. You don't want to draw attention from eBay that you did this. Just don't do it next time.

If they find out that you tried to skirt fees, they will ban your account.

Ok, thanks - I feel bad for doing it now. I guess I was just being greedy. Should I explain to them?

again, LET IT GO. You gain nothing by bringing it to their attention first.

Deleting your messages off of eBay does absolutely nothing for you.

All it does is store your message in your trash box and not in your inbox.
