    Hi
I am more of a backlinks kind of guy. I dont know anything about social. I dont have a facebook account. I have never been on twitter, ever (i dont even know what the twitter homepage looks like). I dont know what reddit and digg are.

I want to hire someone on fiverr to do some likes, pluses, retweets, etc. I am just afraid that if the guy doesn't know what he is doing, my site will get penalized. Like the way a bad SB blast gets you penalized? is that possible, or are all social media marketings equal and safe? How would google tell the difference between a bad Like and a good Like?

And more importantly, how do I start learning social? I have been avoiding it but it keeps getting more and more important.

I haven't heard of anyone getting penalized in the SERPs due to a social blast.

No risk from Google on your site from a social blast! you can only be damaged on the account from the social media you blast from ...
