I dd not know where else to post this question so forgive me if its in the wrong subforum. Can you track a competitor by their google analytics UA number? I'd like to know what niches they're actively working in and what webhosts they use, as well as what their cross-inking strategy is for their domains. You can find the UA- code by viewing the source code of their website.

I don't know about using google analytics or these pay services to track a competitor, but you can use other things.

This will be easier if you have at least two of their sites to study...

Look for common words or phrases that they use on more than one of their sites, or throughout a site. If a phrase looks particularly unique - search for it in quotes....

Also, do a whois on the domain - and if you're really lucky, they might be using a private nameserver or a unique IP. If this is the case, just look for all the sites on the private nameserver, or on that IP address -- and voila - you've tracked down at least a major node of their operation...

If they don't use domain privacy - just look for all the sites registered to that person. Remember - pay the extra money for privacy and hid as much info as you can from your competition. Also, it is free at Name.com....

Also, sometimes folks will use the same social bookmarking accounts to bookmark all their sites... This is pretty foolish - and another great way to track down your competition.
