Go to the bank where you have an account. Tell them that you want to do a wire transfer to your friends account. Give all the details.

You need routing number as well as Name on card to succesfully load your perpaid mastercard. Also check whether that prepaid mastercard is reloadable or not.

no routing number needed to transfer money to UK.

All you need is your partner SWIFT and IBAN code.

Ok. It really depends on the card.

Usually, to top up a UK prepaid mastercard from the US you need:

    1. SWIFTCODE (will take you to the right bank)

    2. Account number + sort code. They are both included in the IBAN, the last eight digits being the account number, preceded by a six digit sort code. So you just enter IBAN for account number.

    3. Reference/explanation/description which is the 16 digit card number without spaces

    4. The Payee, which will be your friend's name in case the card was issued by that very bank or the Card Servicing Company name, if it is a third party/cashplus type card.

    5. Amount you'd like to transfer (to avoid nasty surprises use full amount to the beneficiary option).

    6. To be safe in case you have a third party card, check the bottom part of the back of the card for the issuing company website and look for topping up your card using a bank account. They may have an extra detail mentioned there.

    Hope this helps.

you can use your own bank.

Just need his IBAN (International Banking Account Number) which is normally on bank statements - just get him to give it to you....

then either pop into your bank and ask for an international bank transfer.

You can even do this from home on internet banking with some banks - depends on who you are with.

Bro I am going to thank you for this very useful reply. Are you sure this is the exact information needed to transfer the funds? Also last question, the payee name is this the name of the person on the prepaid card? The prepaid card I am sending money to in the UK does not have any name on it,it is an anonymous card, let me know, and many thanks

Hi again! Sounds like the cashplus type.

You use the Card Issueing Company as the Payee, and that's the information you get from the back of the card, often on the second line from bottom. This will steer the money to that company and the 16digit cardnumber at the reference/description field of the payment will take it to your particular card.

Once you get the company name from the back, you can PM it to me and I'll double-check it for you.

Coming from the US and provided you use the express payment option, I would guess 5 banking days.

you can use the about $20 option for a same day payment. ( the 5 bank days to transfer money is just a banking industry hoax.If you pay them $20, they find the way to transfer almost instantly...)

It's true, they take the 5 days to use the funds as their own resource. Technically SWIFT makes it near instant, but I've never achieved ame day delivery between different currencies in different jurisdictions. Three days was the best. But it's safer to prepare for a longer time and take any time saved as a pleasant surprise.
