As the title says, can I still rank a website without a main keyword and not targeting any one keyword but a bunch of keywords under a certain niche? In cases like these, what do I put as my main keyword?

The reason is because I had a site with 50 articles and messed up the backlinks, so I planned on rewriting these articles with the same keyword on a new site because I can do them pretty fast and still make them unique. And was just wondering if I could write 50 articles without targeting a bigger keyword and just leave the main keyword field blank?

Sounds really confusing. You can use Long Tail keyword strategy here.

" What do i put as my main keyword"--- what do you mean by this ?

You could rewrite those articles and put in new keywords.

I nomally see websites targeting one big keyword and assumed that I must do that. For example a keyword
"how to do everything" with the search volume of 5400 as their main keyword. Then they write other articles in that niche. But in my case, I do not have any main keyword to target but just a bunch of articles on a keyword.

So if you have a bunch of articles on a keyword, that 'keyword' (subject) is your niche, so use that subject as your main keyword....

OK. If you can't get serious PBN links you are better off not to target those "Big Keywords" . Best option now would be to target multiple Long Tail Keywords and slowly start getting traffic with the articles you already have.

If i understood correctly, you have the articles centered around a keyword so rewrite those articles according to any long tail keyword you find out of your research.

Not quite. My problem is that I do not have a main keyword only long tail keywords and wondering if I could just ingore the main keyword and start writing and publishing my longtail keywords only.

Forget about main keyword that's not coming anywhere closer to you. And yes publish whatever long tail keywords articles you have.

If you could search google for difference between a keyword & a long tail keyword i am sure 99% of query will be solved & you will be more clear with "Main Keyword".
