It is possible and it depends how you follow. Follow in batches that is 30 at a time and then give a break for 20-30 mins and repeat till 200. Do not do this everyday, try to skip a day or two between following if you want to stay under the radar.
I have had no problem following 200 per day. I HAVE had a problem when I push a new account to 400 or so... I think the 200 number is safe and reasonable.
I agree with everyone that said start slow. Don't get overly aggressive and you will be fine. I've had two accounts that were relatively new where I added over 600 in a day and they got banned.
I use TweetAttacks and try to set my delay to around 4-6 seconds. I then let it run for about an hour and then switch to a new account. I usually give each account a day to catch up for people that might not follow immediately and then I set up to unfollow. When I'm unfollowing, I run it with a pretty low delay of 2-3 seconds.
I've followed 200 people in the first 24 hours without a problem. Follow 50, have a break, follow another 50, break, until you follow 200 people. i guess the limit is higher i don't know.
