I have a really awesome idea that I think could go viral, but I was thinking about buying Scrapebox to get some backlinks. Now my site is just one landing page, and I'm wondering if it's possible to rank for a specific keyword and not have any content written for it on the site.

If you can't how do landing pages rank? Or do they purely rely on word of mouth and going viral?

It's possible, but it's certainly harder than if the page was content rich and optimised for your keyword. You will find yourself working a lot harder in your backlinking efforts getting the site to rank.

I'd agree with homenet. Not having content on your site can be pretty dicey when want to hit SB backlinks. safer to first get a few pages of quality content.

There's plenty of sites at #1 with little or no content. The thing they all have in common is that what is on the site is exactly what people are looking for when they use that keyword. Google has no reason to deindex or penalize those sites.

If your idea is solid and the keywords you'll target are accurate to what the site provides then give it a shot. Still, I would try to at least have some inner pages with text, pictures, or other stuff. Content doesn't always mean 500 word articles, of course.
