Anyone knows if this is allowed?

I want to list an item on ebay in 2 listings at the same time.
The first listing is a 10 days auction starting at $0.99
The second listing is a 30 days buy it now listing.

Does this offend against ebay's duplicate listings policy?
I could not find this info on ebay. The say it is not allowed to have the same product listed twice when one listing is COMBINED bin/auction
But they say nowhere if it is allowed to have ONE auction and ONE bin of the same product at the same time.

Why not have both a buy it now and auction in the same listing?

Best compromise you would have is to Buy now with best offer. Its usually what I do in that situation. Once the listing is up you will have to option to move to auction in your dashboard.

The thing is I want to do a method which can increase sales.
One listing is an auction going on for 10 days starting at $0.99, the second is a BIN listing for maybe $19.99
So in the auction listing I state something like "You do not want to wait till the auction is over? Then go to [link to BIN] and buy it now!"

So many people do not want to wait for 10 days, so they go to the BIN listing and buy it from there.
I I do BIN and auction in same listing this won't work ....

So if I have a listing which is BIN with best offer, I can convert this same listing to auction style? Or I can make a second auction style listing?

From Ebay:
Code:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-multi.html

"The following types of listings, if they are for the identical item, will be considered duplicate listings even though the listing format or details may vary:
  • An auction-style listing with the Buy It Now option and an auction-style listing without the Buy It Now option for the identical item.
  • A fixed price listing and an auction-style listing with the Buy It Now option for the identical item."

The way I interpret this is that you can have an auction and a BIN listing for the same type of item as long as the auction does not include the "buy it now" option.

But you still should use different photos and alter the title and description slightly for each listing.

I see people having 6 or 8 listings for the same item but a different price by just a few cents and get away with it... but I wouldn't risk that.

You are correct.

I have 30 day GTC listings and I also run Auctions on those same items. Everything is the same in my GTC and Auction listing. Title, description, and photos. If I include a Buy it Now option in the Auction listing, it doesn't take long for my listing to be removed because of the duplicate listing. As long as my Auction listing does not have a Buy it Now option, then I have no problems.

I did this before, and ebay had removed one of my list because they said it violated their duplicated listing policy. I dont know how yours will come out.

All you need to do to avoid the duplicated listing policy is by simply changing the starting price, title, or description in your auctions.

1 BIN listing per item. Auctions of the same item you can have as many as you like or your limits allow.
