Okay so can you outrank them and how do you do research on them?

If my top competitor is a yahoo answers page or youtube video what is the deal then? Should I still check how many backlinks that specific video/answer has or shall I just move down to the next result and analyse that instead?

    Thanks!

Yahoo Answers and YouTube are extremely easy to pass in my experience.

Most likely it will be extremely easy to outrank, but it might have a bunch of backlinks if someone has got it ranking for whatever reason.

Just check how many backlinks it has, but even if it has some backlinks it will be easy to outrank IMO.

agreed they are not hard to pass. If I am doing keyword competitor research and I see them I usually jump on the opportunity.

hmmm, it's just when I put them into SEO Spyglass to look at the backlinks they have so many. I've just run one yahoo answers page and it has 70k + backlinks! This is what is putting me off - however the keyword is apperently 'Amazing' when I analyse it in other programs.. If someone could shed some light I would appreciate it!

Yep, most of the times, it is very easy to outrank a Youtube video. Yahoo Answers are even easier.
