quick question, how do you check if someone signed up to the cpa offer you presented?
With most network you have two options.
1) Use a tracking pixel/script that fires on conversion with your offer. This is a method of client-side tracking using cookies.
2) Setup a postback url. When you get a conversion your cpa network will automatically call a specific url on your server and pass parameters that contain data on that lead. Server side tracking and doesn't require cookies so I would reccomend this.
Setting this up on the networks side is pretty easy. Many networks provide tools so you can do this yourself, and any that don't can usually still do one or the other for you (you may just have to contact your AM).
On the other hand, setting all of this up on your website can be quite a challange if you don't have a good understanding of web development/programming.
Thanks Grizzy for your time and explanation, I really appreciate it. Is this setup process the part where noobs fumble and give themselves away as having never joined a cpa network before?
Hey you're very welcome! Yea it can be a bit of a pain to setupm, but don't be afraid to ask your affiliate manager about this stuff, they will be more then glad to point you in the right direction.
Don't get me wrong it's not THAT hard to do, especially if you are using a script on your site that is pre-designed to work with a specific network's postbacks (ie prosper202 or a reward/gpt script of some kind).
The coding required really depends on what you're needs are. If you are simply wanting to track your conversion ratios that's one thing, but if you want to incorperate some sort of incentive based system that performs a set of actions on your website when a offer is completed.. well that can be more complex. All the work that is required to setup your own postback system is why so many incentive networks offer their own easy-to-use content locking cpa gateway.
Ok, cool, thanks again. I'm not in any cpa networks right now. I'm trying to muster up enough "stuff" to actually apply and handle the phone call that most times come with those applications.
Thanks! Great information!
