Can you learn on here just as much as you would on a degree course in Internet marketing?

    Just a question,

Would you get as much detail in information here same as a lecture by a university lecture or in American terms a college professor?

    Thanks!

Id imagine almost as much, but it is so easy to get distracted on here so I'd really think about a degree course, also looks better on your CV.

No, you'd actually learn more here. Theory doesn't usually teach as much as implementing methods. I can tell you about apples all day long, but until you bite into one, you won't get the same effect, ya know? Just my $.02 . I took a lot of business classes in college, got certified...I learned more selling online in one week than I did in the years I spent in class.

Most courses you're going to be taking are likely hopelessly outdated. You may learn some general strategies, but as far as rubber-meets-the-road kind of learning, you will learn more on here in a week than you'll learn in any course in a semester.

I have a business degree from a top uni in the UK and I have learned FAR more from BHW than I ever did in formal education.

The great thing about forums is the information is up to date and you have a far wider range of likeminded peers to discuss methods/ideas with than you would at uni.

Courses and lectures are great for introductions to subjects, but when the professors want to really get into a subject, they have to have free discussion and debate amongst their peers. Debate is the best way to really learn something in detail, outside of actually being able to practice it in the real world. Courses and lectures are too structured.

    University Pros:
    - More organized via books, lectures, lessons, tests, etc.
    - Have a dedicated teacher to walk you through everything.
    - To have a degree in Internet Marketing is a nice bonus if you are going to work for someone else in this specific field.

    University Cons:
    - More expensive.
    - More likely to be outdated.
    - Less likely to give you any real experience.

    BHW Pros:
    - Information is free.
    - Information is up to date.
    - Real life examples of people banking. These people have experience.
    - Gives you more overall experience than reading books and taking test would (unless you only read the forums without actually implementing your knowledge).
    - Better if you plan on working for yourself.

    BHW Cons:
    - Information is not as easy to find or to keep organized as a university would be.
    - It is rare to find someone that will be dedicated towards teaching you vs. a professor.
    - If you plan on working for someone else, this would not be as valuable as actually having a degree in Internet Marketing.

Having a uni degree (not on IM though), I ended up in the conclusion that universities and "normal" studies are mostly on the theoretical level.

However everything is knowledge, and the times we live in the information is mostly free. The problem is filtering and connecting the pieces of all this information available. And i noticed it here in BHW many times. Most members do not know where to start from.

In my opinion BHW can give you the means to make your plan come true. But you have to find a plan on your own. Thats why so many people around here start PMing everyone that tells "I finally made my first 5$!".

If you know the principles of marketing for example it would probably be much easier to end up with "the method" you will try and avoid the endless "trial & error & tuning" of everything.

summing up! Find a mentor to guide you. Untill you find one try to learn the basics so you can support the advanced guidance of a mentor. If you don't find one start on your own.

Exactly, there's that too. For me at least, bouncing ideas off of smart people is crucial to learning, understanding and creating my own ideas/strategies.

Also, peers at a college might (understandably so) be worried about protecting their professional reputation, so would be less likely to discuss strategies that are seen as BH, alot of stuff discussed on here (especially in Jr VIP) you wouldn't be able to hear from anybody offline, unless you knew them really well.

This is more valuable. You can be earning from methods taught here while studying business at a University. They say on-the-job experience is the most valuable since education from a University only gets you so far. I look at BHW as "on-the-job" experience.

I am a firm believer that the hands on education a person can receive from BHW will be much better than a university. These people are actually doing it. Not just theory being taught by a professor.

Here's my thought and this comes from someone who has an MBA and spent 10 years in the corporate world. Keep in mind that I am not older.

A college degree is good to have as you learn much about work ethics, business, accounting, and other fundamentals. The right person CAN learn all of that online or within an iTunesUniversity podcast. Most of us need more discipline and listinging and watching will not cut it.

I think college is becoming over rated as many are doing it and there is nothing unique about it any longer.

It all boils down to the individual and their motivation. You will not find a university class that teaches you what you will learn on BHW and you will not find a thread on BHW that teaches you what you will learn at the university.

If you want to run a business and grow it into something more than just a 1k/month income stream, a degree with a focus in business or marketing would be ideal. As your business grows and as you look into hiring people, marketing your company, and running the business legally, you need to know what to do.

I left the corporate world for IM as this pays me better. I do not think that I am out of it forever, but this is where I am to be at this moment.

As for the MBA, it is good to have and the tuition bill I receive each moth reminds me of it. Go for a Bachelor in Business Administration and let BH stuff pay your way through college. When you get out, you'll have an advantage over most people on here when it comes to running your business and keeping it alive.

That is my thought. Thanks for asking.
