Lets say I buy an expired domain with decent metrics, clean profile. It's currently not indexed because it's been a while since it was active, but has about 10 solid links from authority sites in the niche. I'd like to get the site indexed and then do an htaccess 301 to current site.

If I was to pull about a few articles from Ezine for about 5000- 10,000 words (while keeping the authors links so it's legit), then send some links to the old authority links, plus some additional links to the expired domain, would it re-index, or be ignored?

This would be a test side project, not money site. Just thinking that if It is possible to re-index a site and redirect it without problem, it would be easy to scale.

*side questions: would it be helpful to 301 a domain to an Amazon page that I'm selling a book on? Also, would it be helpful to 301 a site to a Tumblr?

One thing I forgot to add- I would choose fresh articles from the directory, not indexed anywhere else.

If I were you, I would just search the web archive for the old articles that this domain had, then post them on the domain and used some domain indexer tools (search for website indexer/rapid website indexer on Google, there are many).

Place an index page on it containing some exotic keywords / phrases.

See how long it takes to get indexed and to rank for these low traffic kw's.

If it jumps to the top for easy kw's you have struck gold. If it sits there forever, then you have a rock.
