i was reading an article from 2010 about a guy who was spamming Tagged and was sued. Tagged won and was awarded $200,000! Whoa. This got me thinking. Can you get sued for spamming your affiliate links on sites/forums? When I read into it he was actually "messaging" the members which I am assuming is considered email spam. Is comment spamming, etc. considered the same?

OP If you call out a company and/or individual in public and your BS!

Is libelous - disparaging and/or untrue, expect a backlash that may cost you...

I am confused by your statement. I have not "called out" anyone or anything. Actually, I am confused by your statement in general. Can you please elaborate. Thanks.

What steelballs probably meant was that the guy who got sued probably messaged libelous messages. Meaning "harmful to one's repuation". Libel is a costly crime, specially if you have the money to back up your case.

There is actually court cases of these types in my country. But it actually ends up staying for years in court.

Well, actually if that unlucky guy lives in the country where tagged bureau also is, then it might be true.. But for a foreign people it's not a problem. It would cost too much to open an international file and catch a person, and there is a great risk from their side, that this person might not be the one.

The person who was sued was in California. And Tagged won. I had never heard about this and it got me thinking. I can understand private messages being labeled as "email spam" but what about making profiles with links. What about making comments with links. Is that considered the same?

The U.S. has 37% of the lawyers in the world, and the lowest person to lawyer rate in the world as well. And there is no loser pays rules in a lawsuit, so people can file a lawsuit with ease.

This has nothing to do with slander. A guy was spamming a large social media site with his affiliate links. I was just curious how this affects all of us.

If you don't make yourself appear to be offshore than you will get sued, so this is a lesson about making sure stuff is offshore if it can be sued over.

Tor and Offshore VPN to make the communication on tor safe from bad exit nodes(no logs and that accepts anonymous payments: cash, webmoney, bitcoins, western union)
Offshore Hosting(that accepts anonymous payments: cash, webmoney, bitcoins, western union)
Offshore tld with Offshore register (that accepts the same anonymous payments)
Offshore and Anonymous payment processor to get your money from ad,cpa, ppd, affiliate programs.
