I'm researching right now the best way to build out Tier 2, whether manual or automated..it looks like automated is the best way. I'm wondering though. As of right now does our high quality Tier 1's totally protect us? If I were to build too many links to my Tier 1's will Googles Algorithm notice and penalize me?

If I were to start by building 3 web 2.0's, 3 Article Submissions, and 3 wiki's for Tier 1..how many Tier 2 links would be safe to point to point to those?

Yes, the tiered linkbuilding provides protection for the tiers upwards as if for example T3 gets penalized it will affect only the rankings of T2, it won't reach T1 or your money site

Normally you should pay attention primarily on the T1 and T2 to some level, for inner tiers people just blast away..

You should build more tier 2 links. Tiered links provide the great results

That's why I have not too many spammy backlinks on Tier 1-2 but below I flood it with unfiltered backlinks.

Sorry, I worded my question wrong. I understand the Tier 2 links can be penalized. What I meant was can my money site get penalized if I build too many, or crappy tier 2 links.

I guess what I'm kinda wondering also is the reason people are not just blasting the Tier 1 instead of Tier 2? Is it because if we were just blasting Tier 1, our Tier 2 links wouldn't get indexed, therefore not passing any juice? Wouldn't they get indexed anyway though if we were using a indexer? Where is my thought process wrong here?

I would always avoid pointing spammy links at anything that points to my site. But that's too Tier 2,I wouldn't be such bothered.I always choose tier 2 with better PA and DA ,so that they can survive the blast from Tier 3.If you are building a link pyramid, ensure the tier 1 is built on high pr, The tier 2 can be spread just about any way you wanted ...

If your tier 2 links get penalized it will only indirectly hurt your money site, because then the tier 1 link that the penalized tier 2 links were pointing too will lose its authority, which could then have some effect on your money site's ranking
