I am wondering if you can get away with using copyrighted images within youtube videos. (not as the thumbnail) im thinking it wouldnt be possible for it to come up on reverse image searches. but not sure. maybe companies have really advanced ways of finding where there image is being used?

anyone have any experience with this?

practically all medium to big youtubers do. Technically the owner could flag your video but it's pretty unlikely unless they just happen to run across you video. You could dispute it anyway. I suggest just not using said picture for very long

Yes the owners can claim copyrights and its happening more and more often.

Generaly speaking though its owners of big channels, they don't want the video taken down,
they just want the earnings from it.

Its also happenig with the free music on youtube itself. the music owners put it up for free intentionaly

Then when the videos its on, are consistently getting good numbers of view. They remove the rights to use it
    and claim the income

it's still copyright no matter how you use it. You may or may not get caught.

Yes you can, but its just a matter of time before someone will report you if you get back. Small sites the chances are very slim.

You can easily put attribution and state that the image is believed to fall under "Fair Use". I go for Wikipedia, Flickr and Google Images (with proper setting and some Gimp) as my one stop image source.

Big Youtubers who make a lot of many do this who include images and movie/TV clips to their content. Some include other's youtube video to their youtube video. Youtubeception!!!! Fvck Google!

but would there be any way, such as reverse image searching, for the owner of a picture to know that at 02:23 mins in the video their picture is used? or would they just need to find it by chance while watching the vid?

i would think it was highly unlikely, most probably i would be discovered as the indevidual images used in a video do not leave a digital footprint once the video has been rendered
