Can you delete and remove domains you no longer want before expiration date on registrars?

I am usually very cautious about buying domains as you are 'tied' to the domain for a year then. If a project goes bad it may give me bad memories and just wanna forget about it. Is it possible to drop domains and have them deleted from your dashboard before the year expired should you choose to do so? I use internetbs.

You can set privacy to the domain (so anyone would know who owns it) and just leave it without DNS (just the registrar parking DNS).

You can even input random data for the WHOIS to dissociate from it. But the registry will keep until it expires. Some registrars AFAIK give the option to reject it, so they take control of the domain until it expires.

If you feel that the domain can harm you somehow (any illegal content), just change the WHOIS data (although I'm not 100% confident that in case you face any legal issue, the historical WHOIS data would not affect you)

It's possible but it's not free

Some registrars allow it. I deleted a domain in Porkbun but it was not available for others until the completion of registration period.

Yes off course you can delete it , but you can't renew or use it anymore after deleting those domain

if you did invest in it, sell it, do get some payback at least,
that can sound harsh but being too emotional could cause some really annoying problems
