I spent thousands of dollars in BHW, purchasing different services that helped me boost my websites, designed my websites, desgined brochures, and heck! Even found a printer who printed them and sent it to me. Boucha SEO packages, and ebooks, writing and proof reading services. Even bouch some strange things just to see what the heck the fuss is all about.

However... With thay being said, I noticed that 100% of the time (yes 100%, that means every service) whenever I bought a service from someone located in South Asia (mostly Indian, some Bangeldash) I would get what I paid for WAY after the delivery date, or ots not what was promised, or some excuse is made, or they just resold me someone else's services. Overall I never had a good experience dealing with Indian people.

On the other hand, when I'm doing with Koreans, or people from Indonisia, China, Singapore, Vietnam, pretty much entire Eastern Europe and North America, i get exactly what i paid for.

So my question is... Can we ask the sellers before purchasing where are they from? Or perhaps they need to list where their services are coming from so people will have a better understanding with who they are dealing with? Since naming country of origin isn't giving away much info, but it would help the buyer to determine (imo) if its worth dealing with that seller or not.

It suspect it's their choiceo_O

You can just tell by the way they write. The harder the country is to live in the better service you are going to get, with an inflated price of course. I've never once had a good experience with Indians either (that i knew were Indians that is). No offense bhw Indians.

You can ask them where they are from. If they want to do business with you, what have they got to hide, at the end of the day?
Ask them to jump on a Skype/call with you.

I've done this before on Odesk where a writer claimed to be from Texas, told me the university she had studied at but became defensive when I explained I have a personal friend who is a professor there and wouldn't give me any more details.

I told her to jump on a call, but she declined yet still wanted me to hire her for a $3-4k a month writing job.

Me, I am English, live in Spain and have hopped onto calls with clients.

I hate seeing people list their home as NYC or Windsor yet have never even been to USA or UK.

I've never once had a good experience with Indians either.

And I sent 700.00 to a guy in India just the other day for work upfront because he has done excellent work for me for several years.

Do a better job interviewing and you will see there are some pretty solid Indians offering services here.

I don't interview the person's country; I interview the person and their abilities. Again, I have done more business with people from India then probably the US and never ran into any problems. If you want to know where they are from, you can kindly ask if it's related to delivering a product of some sort, but otherwise, I don't see what the purpose would be.

I dont think its wise to label everyone under a specific country umbrella. You could definitely take an interview or judge the seller based on what he has gone through with clients before you ordered. Or just go in for a test order to see how things turn out. If you're not happy with it, you can always get the other person to tweak a few things or ask for a refund depending upon what you've ordered. Not every person from South Asia can give you a top notch service, same goes for people living in the US. Skills and ability vary from person to person, not from country to country.

I hope you do find a reputable seller from South Asia one day and your views on this subject may change.

Totally this.

I've had content samples sent from non native writers from the Philippines, India and other countries which have been better quality than from uneducated UK and USA writers.
The thing about samples is though, that they can send literally anything they want. Who says they didn't purchase from one of the best content writers to use as a sample for their own service? I've had it numerous times, where the quality of the writing did not match the quality of the delivery.

So when they send you a pile of crap as the finished work, you'd pay for that?

If the delivered work doesn't match the expectations set around what they sent as samples, they don't get paid - simple.

I dont think that it is true, harder life can cause people to be willing to accept any job or lie about their skills etc. There are just to many factors.

I do agree that you shouldnt hire Indians as well. Never good quality with them. Maybe for some one time projects where you can say, "do this and this, exactly this way", otherwise, I wouldnt recommend it. Especially for things such as SEO where there are just to many factors.

If someone will ask me, i will just tell him.

It is not that simple. Most of them require that you pay them upfront, and you can sometimes lose disputes as they still did delivered, it is their words against yours. If it was simple as "if you are not happy dont pay or ask for money back" there wouldn't be any scammers.

Dude. Oh my GOD I can relate so much!!!

I myself am from north america, I live in Pennsylvania.

I used to sell on Fiverr, and after making my first $900, I met my first indian buyer. I dont pay attention to account details or where people are from, I just deliver as required and move on I could care about race aslong as I get my money I am happy

I deliver the service, say my default "Thank for working me" yadda yadda bullcrap.

A week later he contacts Fiverr mad I didn't make him famous. (was a seo service) and demanded a refund. He went on for 3 week arguing with Fiverr until he got my a warning and level 1 back to level 0. I was so pissed. same thing happend a month later with a different indian buyer, and then a week later, so I just quit. Kept stacking up warnings and having to argue with Fiverr shitty support. Fucking sucks man they all want refunds

I had one seller here on BHW that was Indian, and he told me "please dont leave me a negative reviews I have wife and kids, I dont have food to put on table, my roof has a hole and water comes in when it rains" hahahaha
Not exactly in those words, it was like 5 years ago, but still I remember it hahaha

This is turning into a bashing thread and that is not allowed on BHW.

There is good and bad in all countries (BTW, @Nicolass I had a horrible experience with a seller from PA) so the India bashing ends now as this thread is officially closed.

You guys want to discriminate, that is all fine, just keep your mouth shut when it comes to doing that on BHW.
