    Hello everyone,

I would like to know if it's possible and if any of you had success outranking / ranking above the Google Local Listing 7 pack?

I am in Canada and everytime I search for something like (city+dentist) (toronto dentist) I do not see any organic result above the 7 pack. I searched for like 10 city and every searche the local listing are the first to show up and the organic result under it.

So I did not see any organic result outranking the Google Places and I look at like 10 different city if not more.

So I would like to know If i can rank above them for organic results with no google places, with no physical address, local phone number and/or citations even if there is currently no organic result showing up above them ?

What do you guys think ?

    Thank You

    I do not think so...

I have 2 sites outranking them, but both sites are also in the 7 pack...

No results above the local pack has tended to mean that there are no particularly strong sites for that KW.
When I've taken on those niches, and I break above the local pack, usually the top 3 are then displayed above the local pack - except on mobile devices, where only the #1 result appears above the local pack.

On google.com.au, I also noticed a couple months ago that its no longer a 7-pack, but a 3-pack instead, of local listings results.

It's not going to be easy without a places listing. It's best to focus on keywords on keywords that don't trigger the local results. There's tons of profitable keywords out there.

    First, props on being Canadian.

Second, so I've heard. Linda Buquet over at Catalyst E-marketing once hinted at knowing how, but wouldn't give up the secret. She's one of a handful of SUPER bright minds in the space, so I have no reason to doubt her.

I've never made it my purpose to outrank the pack, so even if I have, I wouldn't really know or remember. I think it would make sense that if you are strong enough, you should be able to push it down. However, I also tend to think that Google has more reason than just organic strength to base where they place that pack. And it seems to just move overnight from having no organic listing above it, to three. Which makes me think that these adjustments aren't based on the organic strength of these other properties, and something entirely different. Otherwise, you'd see like one creep up, and then maybe a second, or just 1 and that's it. 3 overnight, which I have often seen seems unlikely.

It's a very very good question which I wish I knew the answer to.

I have a few keywords that outrank the local listings. Some of my competitors do as well.
