Can we have some stricter rules on wording in the BST section?

I get tired of reading bullshit like this in the titles

It has no value, it is just noise and it annoys me a lot. I'd like to suggest that BST thread titles are factual.

The perception that you have to lie to customers in order to sell is retarded. You get more respect and sales through an amazing service and building trust.

I do agree with you but at the same time people make up attention seeking titles to get more clicks and more sales, if the title looked like just a normal thread then not as many people would click on it.

Its called selling man.. Red Bull wont really give you wings and Using Lynx wont make angels fall at your feet. Claiming to be doing work that you wont actually do is another thing but that gets weeded out by the mods anyway.

    Results speaks louder then words.
I believe there should be ranking system of some sorts that will rank BST seller. For an experienced IM'er these fancy titles/attractive sales page/marketing gimmick wont matter but for the new users it would.

There's a difference between a gimmick and promises.

Although I agree with every word you said..I think announcing your self as "#1 blah blah seller" or "Best BHW service" is always misleading and should not be allowed to use unless you are really #1 blah blah service. And this thing is legally wrong as well, unless you refer to any survey results.Like "#1 blah blah service as per xyz survey".
If these phrases are used at BST, then it should be stopped....other than that everything is fine for marketing purpose....

If all your competitors are calling themselves "the best" you wont survive very long by proclaiming yourself "rather good".

BSTs a Jungle theres hundreds of guys in there trying to make a few quid and I dont begrudge them using a bit of hyperbole. The likes of a leaderboard sounds great in theory but what service worked 6 months ago might tank today. People need to know exactly what sort of product their website needs and then find relevant BSTs and and ask direct questions-look for samples-examine the sellers previous BSTs to see what the customer service was like.

That should really get the sales flowing.

Nothing wrong with titles unless the service providers do exactly the same as mentioned in titles...

Coca Cola that drink that is full of sugar and crap is one of the world's top selling drinks!

Not because it is any good for you - but because it has the best marketing BS in the world...

Nothing will sell if it is not hyped, if you don't believe me take a look at Kim Kardashian - Ugh Gross but her team know how to promote her... on and on we go products - people - then more BS & Hype

Some of the top sellers here on BHW are sweet mouths and you need to get under the hood to find out what they are all about, but this is just business as usual all around the globe...

How about stating what the service does in the title rather than spouting bullshit which isnt true.

If you have to LIE in your BST then how do you expect to sell anything?

Why would anyone buy from someone who lies from the beginning?

Do you guys honestly think you have to lie to sell your products?

Come to think of it that would be pretty cool! Instead of going through thread after thread it would be pretty cool if there was an Amazon or similar type of review system for each BST that only confirmed buyers could access.

What's annoying is the misleading prices.

"5,000 High Quality Back-links! Only $30!!" (Just an example)

Then you click in and realize it's their SMALLEST package that's $30 and whatever they were offering was their biggest and then that's like $250 or whatever.

Well I think BST Providers should be required to post a Bond to have a thread like $1000

so that they have an incentive to make sure their service is completed and it is of a high quality standard and to provide support.

If the service fails outstanding customer funds can be returned from the Bond ... or if its closed then the $1000 can be returned.

You look at Sterday for example - he was selling low quality things and he just runs off - not paying any clients back and there is no repurcussion for him.

Anyway I know the thread is slightly different topic wise but still related I think.

a $1k Bond would really kill all starters and small businesses, don't you think?

I sort of like his idea. Sure, the price may be quite high for small businesses but there is still a lot of profit to be made on BHW if you provide the right quality service.

If someone lies on their BST, their BST will be taken down.

What we are witnessing is BST providers marketing their marketing services. The headlines caught your eye, so they worked.

My only concern was with special characters in the thread titles. I think *'s are ok, but not the stars. Just my opinion; neither really here nor there.

As for "misleading titles," have you never seen an upsell? I bet you have a squeeze page on your site that does the reverse: high price initially, then with a lower secondary offer...But of course when you do that, it's ok

Let's not forget what site we're on, btw. "Buyer Beware" and all that good stuff. It seems, as time goes on, people forget what the Internet and business are really like.

    toughen up

I know several services (and I assume others do too) which are good in quality and they have one of those "non factual" titles.

While I understand your point, by allowing a service to just have a factual title would be boring in my opinion.

Okay.. some titles are too hyped but the others that arent too hyped are fine in my opinion. Without a catchy title, I assure you sales will be much lower.
