The pagerank isnt what is truly important here. You are giving PR too much credit for the ranking. Google considers them true authority sites on any product, so why would they rank YOU higher than them? They are assuming wiki/amazon etc are what 99% of people will be happy with when they search a product. You have to REALLY give reason to google to place you higher. And it isnt easy.

I outrank Amazon all the time with SB using many high PR backlinks with some .edu's thrown in for good measure. Gotta' have the tools.

Speaking out of experience, outranking Amazon product pages isn't extremely hard. Just do some good linkbuilding and have good on-site SEO and it shouldn't take too much effort depending on the product.

Low PR will not help you... Check if page is targeting for your keyword or not... If they got backlinks or not... MS will help you better in such cases... Try it

dude dont' be scared by PR. I actually tend to ignore PR all together these days. I've outranked lots of high pr sites with domains with no PR. Just consider the backlinks, and start building like a mad man. You'll get there. The good news is many of those sites, are not targeting the keyword you're going for. They just happen to rank. You can be a lot more focused, build a whole lot more backlinks and beat them all day long.

Just make sure the payoff is worth it cause it can take quite a bit of work.

Yes, it is possible to outrank Amazon with backlinks. But you need to refine your keywords and look for a more longer tail keywords as primary keywords are harder to beat.

Yes you definitely can if the page itself is not optimized or pimped out with backlinks. Sometimes if there's no ideal site for a keyword, google will pick an article that briefly mentions the keyword once just because the site its on is high authority. but if you write a whole article dedicated solely to that keyword, and build backlinks to that page with just that keyword as anchor text, you should be able to outrank the other site even if your domain isnt as reputable
