Can too much content creation slowly drop sitewide rankings?

Hello everyone I had a question for the vets here,

I have my biggest moneymaker site, and for the past 3 months I have been following the semrush keywords and traffic graph and every day im slowly losing traffic and keywords, just a slow drop of rankings on all keywords if i have for example 5000 keywords on the graph tommorow it will be 4978 then 4953 etc etc. I am building pbn links, i did all on page optimization but still i have had a slow bleed and drop.

I have analyzed everything I can and my best guess, the only thing im gradually doing is adding 1 new 800 word article every week or twice a week but I dont send links to said article, i just share it on 5 social platforms.

What im wondering is could adding too much new content without and real backlinks be lowering my sites quality score with google and possible leaking my rankings? Should I perhaps stop creating new article and focus on making my old ones much more robust and sending links to them.

Could this ranking leak be caused by over creation of new content is basically what im asking

First off why an either/or for the content?
Instead of 2 new posts, do 1, and refresh 1 old piece.
Are you inter-linking as well your new posts, not just tying them back to older posts, but adding posts from older posts to the newer ones(as needed)?
So SEMRUSH is showing a drop in keywords and traffic, but what about your site's actual traffic? Any way on-site you have for analytics? A 3rd party tool is just giving you a best guess at what they think is going on, get some on-site analytics to monitor your traffic.

As for why SEMRUSH is loosing your keywords, I got nothing, I don't have much stock in 3rd party stuff.

My onsite analytics are hard to guage because I have a seasonal site top of my season is june, so triffic is rising but I could still be dropping in ranks, and its only a 3 year old site so i cant compare to last year because i was in growth mode.

I'm also starting to get scared of building more than a few pbn links since im already higher in link amount than alot of my competitors

Are you higher in links, or do they have hidden PBNs?

Get some on-site analytics up on your site, it isn't just to gauge against last year, but it can also show your user experience: are they reading more articles, watching your videos, clicking through your links, whatever you want from them? Are they coming to the site and just reading and reading and reading? You can build upon what you learn.

Content is what the search bots come for. Build good content, slowly but in a steady manner. Content alone cannot rank you, get good links to your site as well.
