    Hey fellow bhw members,

I am about to start a new authority website (step by step of course) and I was wondering if it would be safe to use the pinterest traffic on it before it gains some more attention from Google? Since it will take some time for it rank and it would be nice to get some additional $ before that happens. Or should I create totally separate blog for that?

Ps. Both sites (or if it is allowed only the 1) will be monetized with adsense (the authority - at least for now)
Ps2. If I have to create separate website for pinterest, is it ok to put them both on one server (hostwinds) and use one adsense account?

Pinterest will not hurt your site, and even if it does in the future. the traffic (when you do it right) is worth it.

No reason to use a buffer.

Pinterest traffic is social traffic so it should actually help your site.

I don't want you to think that I'm being rude or something like that, but the authority part comes way long after you create the website. Depending on the niche, it can take anything from months to maybe years of hard work and lots of relevant content for it to become an authority website in its field.

Until then, all the websites are just.. websites. Maybe one could say that Pat's SecurityGuard website is kind of an authority website, simply because there wasn't any other site with so much information in one place that is actually useful. When someone mentions the term 'authority website' you should think of something like webmd.com or wikihow.

You should watch-out because there are some sellers around here who will sell you 'authority sites' for pennies if they could. One year of hard work can't be really $99.99.

If you don't agree with me, answer yourself to this question: would you buy a link from a guy who says that his authority website was built back in October last year? I bet that you wouldn't.

I was just afraid that if I send too many links to my site from one source it can get a penalty, so thanks for clarifying that :)

Thank you for your answer white_wolf, I totally don't think you are being rude :) I get what you mean with the authority part, for me the authority site I want to create would be a site with 100/200/300+ quality content articles, maybe I confused the name "authority site" with a different type of website? Thanks for the warning on 99$ authority websites, totally wasn't gonna invest into something like that, want to start with everything myself slowly investing into pinterest bot, SEO and SEO tools while expanding my site and learning, learning, learning.

Nope I probably would not, and since you have written about it now I am sure I wouldn't buy it ;) I know it will be a long term project that's why I wanted to know what would pinterest traffic influence be.

You are very welcome! :) I don't think that you got confused, most likely you picked the term right up because ever since Mat Cutts said that they value only authority websites, pretty much everyone else slaps the 'authority' word next to their site to over-valuate it. It's just there to sound better and make it more appealing. The truth is that it's nothing but a fresh website, that may or may not have relevant content on it. The same goes with Page Authority; it takes a lot of effort to reach that point.

Would anyone buy a brown&bubbly soda bottle if it does not have the 'Cola' name on it? It's just marketing and nothing else, be it a website or a beer.

I believe that we're on the same page, because a long term project and lots of quality content are two ingredients of something that could become an authority (in whatever niche that is).

    Best of luck!

LE: I would suggest you to keep a low profile with Google's services like AdSense or Webmaster. In general, don't leave any footprints that can be easily picked up by them. Even so, you'll have two websites in your Adsense account so I doubt that it would make any difference if you have the two separate hosts. It's pretty obvious that you have a connection to both of them. As long as you don't make a habit out of it, you should be OK.

You are right, it's pure marketing everywhere. Authority site sounds much better than "very big niche site".

Thanks for the suggestion, I will keep it in mind. I've read a lot about Google here, totally gonna be careful. And of course not gonna keep all my eggs in one basket in the long run.

Best of luck to you too,
    Weltenbummler.
