Can this be duplicate content Penalty?

    Hi there,

    I have had many issues with google, but this one's new :)

    I have a freebie site where I publish many free offers including a particular dating site signup offer. That page was generating decent leads so I decided to open a site dedicated to dating site reviews and had my writer write reviews about dating sites including the exact same dating site that I promote with the freebie site.


    All of the pages of the dating site was indexed and the site was getting around 50+/day organic visits in its first week.

    Then exactly at the same day (22nd Jan) dating site's pages got de-indexed and the landing page on the freebie site lost all rankings (from #2 to nowhere).


    I dont think this is a coincidence. All the text on the sites are different, but they talk about the same dating site.

    Does anyone have an experience with a situation like this?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    I would think it's a duplicate content issue. If both sites are still indexed but not ranking, you may just have to build more links. Newer content sometimes manages to hold Okish rankings for a while on a account of it being fresh. Then it drops off as it becomes not fresh, and needs more backlinks to gain it's former ranking. A theory anyway.
