Hi guys! There is a big company and lets pretend that the company is www companyname dot com. They didn't buy www companyname dot ca, so I bought it for 10$. I'm going to sign up for their affiliate program and have the .ca website redirect to my affiliate link. In their terms they say that using trademarks in the domain is fine, but this is the exact company name. Will the affiliate manger/ that site be able to track where the affiliate link originated from? I'm sure this is a very basic question but I hope someone has some experience. I'm just trying to mask the affiliate link really well. Thanks!

    What exactly are those?

I've heard of/ read a bit on cloaking. What do you mean from your perspective though regarding my post?.

    Thanks for the replies

Yes its easy for them to track if they chose to do so. It would be better to check things out with them instead of losing commissions.

We can see most stuff but if you cloack in most cases you'll be able to hide your referral...

Yeah I will likely do that.

How would I do that? I'd like to hide the source of traffic from them. What would I need to do to achieve this?

Appreciate the replies so far, gave me some new perspective

Better use cloakers or cparedirector for your traffic.

    Cheers

The most secure way is probably to buy another domain and use brand.com for promotion and send the clicks to newdomain.com which is redirected with your affiliate link. The average user won't ever notice and in the affiliate manager stats I would only see the last referrer.

You have to take into consideration that as an affiliate manager I constantly check the SERPS and other advertising venues, if your domain.com url ranks above originalbrand.com by clicking on your link I will be able to see who is the affiliate no matter how you cloack it.

Talk to your affiliate manager and ask him if they have a problem with you using the brand name in the domain, in our case we don't have a problem with it, the only restriction is ppc, at the end of the day you are still generating sales so we are all happy ;)
