Hi friends, I have been trying to push down a negative link but see no progress at all. It is a forum showing up on multiple keyword and is really effecting my client;s bad reputation. Any suggedtions or help? Thanks in advance!

Research ORM (online reputation management)... but the most common answer is to rank other stuff over the bad stuff. Shouldn't be hard if there are some good authority sites below that you can give a jolt to. If you can't do that then you're safer not monkeying with it.

One my client had the same problem, I exactly did what @ThopHayt said + I made 2 more sites only for that keyword and made backlinks and reviews on business listing sites for all of the sites. It worked :)

Thanks for the answer. I have been making backlinks for keywords but nothing seems working. Recently moved my focus to makine business listings and posting reviews. Lets see if it works. By the way, the bad link is a forum site that I am trying to push down. It has gained enough authority due to receiving more comments from people. This is the problem

Interesting. I looked at the SERPs for some relevant terms and also looked at that webpage. Hardly even seems to be negative. There are maybe one or two bad things said about your client in that thread with many members saying that the service/product is good overall.

It's ranking fairly low (around 9th) for the terms I checked. Should be easy to either make another 1-5 articles/blogs/videos/other to push it down further or to push some other content above it. Seems like a fairly straightforward job if you do what has been mentioned throughout this thread:
    • Make relevant content on other websites/platforms and push that upwards
    • Don't waste time trying to do negative SEO. It is a worse use of time than pushing other content above the bad content.
The reputation management strategies posted in this thread have worked for websites in substantially more difficult situations, so I'm sure that it will work for you here.

Outrank all the other "positive" stories about the person/brand in question so that it shows above the "negative" news story that's published.
