I used octoparse before but recently I purchased scrapebox. Definitely helps make thing less cumbersome, esp for occasional use.

Not overkill, but a way to become free from on the shelf software.
Edit: but yeah, you could argue that a programming/scripting language is also a tool. But then, it is much more flexible.

I'd so love to see you offer a tool to the community via a BST or otherwise... I'm not the only one who has an idea as to the value you can offer there.
