Can anyone provide me with some good videos or articles about ON SITE SEO. So articles and videos about key word placement and basically a checklist of all the on-site seo that should be done before you start trying to rank.

I use the clickbump seo plugin and it tells you most all you need to know about on-page seo. Pretty easy.

    Here are some decent guides:
    http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/on-page-factors
    http://www.marketingtechblog.com/on-page-seo-best-practices-in-2013-7-rules-of-the-game/

Don't go for 100% optimized though it doesn't look natural and you are bound to get slapped by panda updates. Just make sure things like titles, images and keyword density are where they should be.

As someone mentioned above - get yoast wordpress plugin if you are using WP for your CMS. It is a godsend.

Also, run your page through a tool like this (there are many out there) after you've created it:
    http://www.seoworkers.com/tools/analyzer.html

Once again - don't feel the need to score 100% on these analysis tools. They are merely guidelines.

My suggestion for you is to not TRY to optimize your onpage. Yeah, you need keyword in title and in the page itself but most people having difficulty with rankings are making the page look SEO'ed. Google can tell what the page is about. I suggest writing content naturally, just as though you would talk. No inserting the keyword multiple times randomly. It doesn't read well. My rule of thumb is, if you're saying "I think I need to add more keywords in this", DON'T! You probably have the perfect density stopping there. A recent site of mine I "underoptimized", aka I went back and removed some instances of the keyword, changed the title tag to sound more informative and less stuffed and VOILA. Better rankings this week. No new links built. Coincidence?

Thanks everyone all helpful replies. This more of what I was looking for the technical stuff, not really content its self but the coding and things of that nature.
