Can software detect makeup of another software? (Pokerstars)

Pokerstars prohibits use of certain software while the client is running. If you open the software PS will give a pop up warning saying that you need to close it. This can be made by reading names of running tasks only. I was planning on making poker software myself, and it would recreate some of the functionality from other prohibited programs, would it even be possible for software like pokerstars to detect what its doing? I'm not talking about a bot as it would not perform any actions or move the mouse cursor.
Given that PS has hard policy against non-whitelisted software I was wondering how risky (if at all) would it be to run such a program? A site like this has put in a lot of effort in countering bots etc so they MUST have some counter measures in place. They've made a video talking how they're the best in business to counter such things. But is it even possible for it to detect what my program is doing if it's not interacting performing actions? Maybe I'm just paranoid?
