I started a personal blog lately, just about my life and so fourth using the free wordpress blogs(their hosting also). I read somewhere that you can use a recent comments widget to post links in that will make it appear that every post you make is a backlink to the url posted in the comment? Is there a way to do this with the free wordpress hosting? I was thinking of doign this since i update my personal blog alot and might as well get backlinks for my money making sites with it.

Simple Answer: Yes, you very well could.

Long Answer: You can, but I wouldn't unless your personal blog was something people would link to (such as a Google developer's) which was relevant to your niche (such as some thing about SEO for Google or whatnot). Backlinks are the most effective from varied domains or from every page in a website that has a disgusting (in the hundreds of thousands) pages directly linking to your website with relevant anchor text.

I can't say how much the actual content of the page weighs in with tha relevancy factor for SERPs of another site, but it'd be a decent bet that it's there. The most important thing is anchor text and the number of inbound links, though.

Anyway, I don't believe the Wordpress MU site allows for you to install plugins, so that's probably a no-go.

Wouldn't recommend that either and i don't think google will react to well. It isn't worth it.
