Can i transfer a .uk or .com straight after i have buyed it?

    Hey BHW

    I finally made some money but now i want to try some new things out.
    I was wondering if i can transfer a domain if it is only about a day old the main types of domains i am going to be transferring are:
    .org
    .com
    co.uk

    I know there is a icann thing about this but i don't if it applies to .uk or org could someone tell me ?

    It depends on the registrar. I would guess and say no. Most registrars in their Terms of Agreement clearly state that you cannot transfer a domain 90 days after a domain is bought or pushed to another account within that registrar. You CAN HOWEVER initiate a transfer and when the domain becomes eligible for transfer it will transfer out.

    You can initiate a transfer with another registrar at any time. Usually the registrar will try to transfer the domain on a daily basis. If your domain is still in its 90 day nontransferable status upon the 91st day the transfer will take place. Hope this helps

    I just found this out the hard way. Transferred 10 1-week old domains from Go Daddy to Namecheap. Go Daddy told me I had to cancel all my DomainsByProxy subscriptions. Then I was told I have to wait till the domains are 60 days old until I can transfer them. Cancelled all by DBP subscriptions for nothing.
