I read a pdf which said only target one kw per video on youtube but it didnt say why. What are the advantages to this?

If I have one video for a certain niche I would like to use it for multiple keywords if there arent any disadvantages to that. So can you good ppl tell me if there are indeed any disadvantages to it or whether I could do it successfully?

On my experience its all about video details, it is much more easy to target one keyword using exact keyword in your title, descriptions and tags. At the same time it works as with any websites, building links and shares for your video can help you to target for several keywords. With low competition keywords it is sometimes enough to have right details to rich top of youtube.
for example titile I will use with your post will be something like this

think ill stick with one per vid then due to title and all since you can only have one of them or a couple at most but better keep it tight at one i reckon.
