    Hi Blackhatworld,

I have bought 2 domain 4-5 months ago and post 2-3 article on it and then i left writing in it and updating it. I even did not logged in in past 2-3 months but now i want to write again so should i buy new domain or can write my article in the current domains. I am not getting any traffic in those domain/site. Will Google rank my domain if i do not update my site frequently? I have other several blogger blog which i start last year but left them after posting few posts because i did not see any traffic so if i write article again on those dead blog will they relive again. Can i rank them by doing good SEO after being dead for almost 1 year or should i buy fresh domain and start writing from scratch.

Do website/blogs lost their reputation and potential of ranking on Google Search Engine if webmaster do not touch them for several months? OR we can any time relive our blogs/website by start posting and updating our blogs.

Do you have any similar situation where you left your website completely and then return after few months or years and start updating it and rank it on Google Search Engine?

    Thanks

Yes you can, just start linking and adding new content weekly.

5 month is not big deal, just add content to your blog and tweet your link, google will crawl your site and index your page in hours.

You asked a lot. Firstly, Google loves sites that are updated frequently and they tend to give them a ranking boost. That doesn't mean if you site it not updated it won't still rank. Rankings depends on many factors (about 200) and regular content is one of those.

Secondly, you dumped your site because it's not getting traffic. Well, to me, that is a very bad idea. Traffic doesn't come without promotion. You've got to promote your site and a kinda build relationships with bloggers in your niche. Keep creating high quality post, build relationship, traffic and backlinks will definitely come.

Do not buy another domain please.

Thanks for reminding me that their are 200+ factors which google consider while ranking. Still if someone has practically ranked his site after being dead for a long time then give a comment.

Yeah, you can get them ranking; I've done it a number of times before... a few things you need to do though aside from updating them as has been pointed out. I would not use your typical backlinking process before doing the couple things I mention below.

Social Bookmarking -you want to add some social bookmarks that point to the inner pages with just a very few to your main/root page. I would not go overboard but some bookmarks will give G the impression that you are no longer sleeping.

Social Media - Links from all the usual suspects there will show G that you are back in the saddle and have something relevant to today. Again, I would not be slamming this right off but some will show relevance to today and that will help in the process.

After those I would be doing some typical backlinking and get back to building the site.

I bought domain in November last year. I hired VA to update daily basis. He did for a month and a bit then he had to leave due to some family problems. I didn't touch the site at all. I set up WP and plugins and passed to him. After he left, the site was abandoned until April or May. Then I started adding contents weekly. The site is getting now nearly 400 unique daily visitors from google. Since your domain is old better go for it instead of buying new one.

You can still rank easily even if not updating for months, I have a free blog I've used in the past for building up a bunch of posts before moving to my own site. I have occasionally gone months at a time without updating and when I started updating again they got indexed and I received traffic.
