    Ok - here's the answer.

    Technically yes.
After all Google ranks pages (URL's) NOT websites...or do they.

Every URL has it's own rank, but internal linking from other URL's that are relavent within the same website DO COUNT.
So - while each page IS RANKED on it's own merits - it benefits in a pretty big way from being part of a website that is at least pertaining to the general topic.

How about sticking the phrase you want to rank for into Googles keyword tool (shite though it is) and then writing other pages on 6 or 7 of the top results (they are sorted in relvency order by default)?

This will give you a very high degree of relevency in internal linking (as long as you tag and LSI properly) PLUS you stand a chance of ranking for all these other connected words as well (which is always the best way to proceed)

For a little work you get a win/win.

More chance of this page keeping it's SERPS
Chance of ranking for other main keywords related to main keyword.

    Good luck!
