One website of mine was ranking in high comp keywords.

It was an expired domain with Extremely Good Quality Backlinks, It had like 40 Contextual Links from different high authority websites.

I Made My Site Live Posted Articles And They were getting indexed in just 20 minutes without submitting

But those articles were not ranking on first page

So I started building comment Links, Forum Links and all that links which can be made for free.
Note that I only used to make links for 2-3 posts and there was no diversity + Didn't used to make links on homepage

9-10 Posts got ranked. Other posts were also ranking but they didn't had traffic.
Now I started making links for 7-8 posts but mainly I was still building links for those 2-3 main post the most

I made money from Feburary 2022 until 10th May 2022

The website rankings started dropping from 20th April 2022.
From 2th April to 10th May my post was ranking for some LSI keywords

And then my site's traffic went almost zero by the end of MAY.

By the End of May all My posts were indexed but they were not ranking anywhere for any keyword

So I tried these things listed below to recover it but failed.

I posted several new articles - Didn't got indexed for a long time

I edited every content and shortened it

Page Engine Optimization

I Made amazing user experience

But it didn't work

So I redirected this domain to new domain and then All the keywords which were not appearing anywhere Started appearing in page 5th, 6th

But after few days again they were no where to be found

So I redirected the site for 5 times to different Domain and Subdomains

So every time (5) when I redirected my new domain appeared in 5,6th page for 7-10 days and then disappear again.

Important thing to note is that I did not made a single link after site got hit for the first time and till today even after redirecting 5 times. I did not made any links for the new domain.
So 6 months back I gave up and left it redirected on the fresh domain.

So It's been like more than 6 months I had stopped working on it.

Since Last 2 weeks I was thinking that whenever I redirected it to new domain or subdomain. It used to appear in 5,6th page for main keywords and then totally disappear from the keywords after few days.
I asked to myself maybe If I had done something to my new domain in that time when it was showing on 5,6th page then It would've been recovered?

So Yesterday what I did is I reverted the Redirect back to the original Domain. All the the Subdomain and Domains are now redirecting to the original site.
Kindly guide me what do I do.

Yesterday to today this is what I have done so far
Updated Content, Added Images, And did the things which would give what user want.
Reduced The number of Posts, Removed the articles which did not had links and no traffic.
Currently only posts which used to rank and had traffic are live.
Now there is only 19 posts and 4 posts SEO title got updated in the SERP without submitting to WBT in just few hours if that info matters.

I would greatly appreciate if you all can guide me now to recover this site back to its glory days.

Thank you for reading. Ask me questions related to it if needed. I will be waiting for your responses.

It is possible to recover your website that was hit in the May 2022 update, but it depends on the specific issues that caused the drop in rankings. To recover the website, the site's content, E-A-T signals, and technical SEO factors need to be analyzed to identify and fix the issues. However, recovering from a major algorithm update takes time and effort, and there are no guarantees that the site will fully recover its previous rankings and traffic levels. Focusing on providing high-quality content and a positive user experience can improve the site's chances of recovery.

What is GSC telling you? Without seeing the site, this sounds like a thin content penalty. Has google put pages under "discovered or crawled currently not indexed".

There is no "Message" on webmaster tools

Not under messages... Sitemap > Page indexing > Why pages aren’t indexed.

Crawled - currently not indexed, and Discovered – currently not indexed usually means content is not up to scratch.
