Hi all, i have purchased a wonderfull book from waterstones and it has inspired and helped me so much that i want to share it with the whole world.
Is it possible for me to rewrite it in similar wording and name it something different to make it my own ebook?? :):)

I guess you can rewrite it.. But you need to create it as unique as possible :)

You can definitely do it, but you better hope that if you copy it closely the author never sees it.

I would be careful with the similar wording, but definitely feel free to take the idea. You should reread the book, and then write as much as possible without referring to it. Or copy the entire book and run it through an article spinner a few times. Good luck.

I rewrote a book once upon a time, too. I didn't spin or anything, because for articles I think spinning/rewriting is fine, but for books, they really should be totally rewritten and re-phrased with your own ideas and concepts, using the book for base ideas.

What I did is, I read a paragraph or two, let the ideas swim around in my head, and re-explained the ideas in my own words and thoughts. I also rearranged the chapters, so chapter 4 would be 1st, etc. Sounds like a daunting task, but really, only took me about a week, and was actually quite fun and rewarding! :)

is the book old enough to be in the public domain for the country you live in? If it is you can rewrite it word for word if you are in the US. If it is not, then I like the ideas presented already. Read it a bit at a time and make it your own work.

You are on very dangerous ground however although you can copywrite words on papeer you cannot copywrite an idea. If this book inspired you so much you can re-write as long as you do not use any text from the original nor can you break it down into the same chapter sequence, in other words a person reading both copies would believe they are addressing the same idea but expressed totally differently, make sure you put your own twist on it. As someone has suggested go to ABEBooks and see if the idea is expressed in a book published in the USA before 1923, this is outside copywrite law in the States you can republish with no alteration if you want quite safely or bring it up to date and add your name to it. If it is by a famous old author I find it sells better with their name on it and I add edited and modernised by xxxx (my name)

Hope this helps mate remember using one book to produce another could be plagerism using three or four is research

For your aim of sharing the book, it would be simpler to just point people in the direction of the book - and explain why.

Or are you seeking to profit from the sharing of the book?

Going through the trouble of writing your own version, could get you into a lot of hot water if you don't do it properly.

On a different not, this thread is out of place in the SEO section. Question to OP: was there an seo question you had?

Thanks to this thread. It's given me some ideas on how to change my chapter outline and create a new opportunity for my next ebook.

You probably won't get in trouble for it don't worry lol; unless you end up selling over 1k copies.

it will create some problem if it is copyright or some one complains to owner or if you are selling in a huge market otherwise if you are not in mood of selling then go for bingo !!! :D :D :D
